Don't know if they interviewed anyone or not but the job was posted on HDs website for over a year. I too, am optimistic about the future. |

I think it's kinda lame that I had to agree to all the other junk mail in order to get Fuell. Free is rarely free. |

"So, I'm skeptical but also optimistic" As am I. I got some good news on Thursday at our B.R.A.G., er, motorcycle club meeting. Kirk, the owner of Hals HD, has agreed to continue to sponsor, and support Brew City. Hopefully the rest of the dealers will do the same. |

Steve: That *is* good news! Kirk is one of the "bellweather" dealers who is seen as a leader. Him stepping up is a great start. Court |

I know they interviewed because I interviewed via phone with Joe Dowd, Peggy's boss, after the Ridin' the Rockies Adventure. Zia Thunder (the New Mexico Club) will continue. Since Murrae works at the shop, we expect relatively decent support. And I happen to know that a $40 entry fee would still garner tee-shirts and goodies at *some* events. |

S.L.A.B…St. Louis Area Buellers…The history and evolution of a group of like minded riders… Manufacturer sponsored clubs are about putting more $$ in the pockets of the manufacturer and dealers…Benefits to club members arise only if they meet the financial goals of the manufacturer…This premise is not debatable and explains everything that has transpired for us to date… We all started on tube framed Buells… Our first “club” ride was promoted with flyers in area dealers including our “home” Buell dealer…There were no “BRAG” clubs at the time…We had about 25 on that first ride of almost 400 s’miles...About six showed up for the next…It was suggested by the dealer that to continue to attract more club members we might want to limit the mileage of our rides…The core group looked at each other and said “nope, we formed this thing to ride and ride it will be”…Our relationship with that dealer was, and continues to be, excellent even though they are no longer a Buell dealer…The dealer provides superior customer oriented service…Offers discounts of their own accord…And provides more “free” service and advice than I can imagine…In return we try to give them a shot at our wallets whenever they have something that we can utilize… We were always open to “other” brands of motorcycles and our dealer never had a problem with this…This is due to the fact that they were also a Suzuki dealer, I’m sure… Eventually we organized as a BRAG club…Not the first, but one of the original ones…The benefit we saw in BRAG was the national rides…The first one in ARrrrr…The first Deals Gap rally…And the California Tour…Along with José’s DC club we organized another “regional” Deals Gap rally…Times were good…And Leslie Prevish was doing a great job at BRAG national…Thank you very much Les… I remember a dealer at the regional Deals Gap rally, just after the announcement of the discontinuance of the tubers and the corresponding intro of the XB, expressing the opinion that Buell might be turning away from the interest of it’s core customers…The group of riders he had at the rally…I tried an XB and my fifty year old knees agreed with him…Definitely not the ergos of my S3T… Then our “home” dealer lost their Buell dealership as did two others in the St Louis area leaving only one Buell dealer…I visited them with the thought of transferring our BRAG club there…In about five minutes they pressed every hot button I have in regards to motorcycling…Rides would be limited to Buell only…Club officers would be “appointed” by them…We were welcome and expected to participate in dealer events and hold our meetings at the dealership…Uh, our meetings were held at a nice place with FOOD!...Okay, so that was the other reason for our club and it’s rides…Food…Thus the demise of our BRAG club… Most of us gravitated to another group of like minded riders we had met at the motorcycle show…Their club is the Honda Sport Touring Association and despite the first word in the name is truly a multi brand club…It prefers to be called simply the “HSTA”…Honda has no “control” over the club and even though a contract drawn up by Honda was presented to the club several years ago in order to continue to use the Honda name, we have never signed it…And it is the expressed declaration of the club leaders that we never will sign it…And Honda, in their wisdom, has never mentioned it again…I guess it’s enough of a two way street that they see enough benefits to being associated with us as we do with them…They provide us with one or two motorcycles a year to be raffled away at our national rally…You know, cheap ones, like ST1300’s or Interceptors with full hard bags… By “like minded riders” in the above paragraph I mean that we are still about riding…Our typical Saturday or Sunday ride will usually put 400+ s’miles on your odo…The rally routes are usually around 350+ miles… Now I don’t pretend to be able to tell you what is best for you in your area but I can tell you this…To your own self be true…If your club is about social gatherings, keep it that way…Just independent of Buell…If you’re about riding, same goes…And you know what?...It’s a lot easier to be true to yourself if you’re independent of a manufacturer… Thanks, Bob |

Here's a thought - If Buell listened to there customers in regards to BRAG, then followed through with addressing it and this is not only the response but the first step towards a new venture..........Do you think there may be a chance that they would listen to the calls for a S3T replacement. Not to be confined to that model, but a Sport Tourer that is has good wind protection, hardbags, and has no desire to be ridden through dirt? Just a thought.... |

Newfie, yup. If you look at the graphics on our site www.brewcitybrag.org you'll notice I fixed the BRAG portion to be larger about a year ago. And now I have to re-do it again. |

Anybody else get a notice in the mail from Buell about the BRAG discontinuance? It states that Jan 31, 2007 is the end and there is good news...there is to be a refund for my paid up multiple year membership! |

I also received the notice from BRAG in the mail but have not spoken with our Dealer sponsor yet. Our Louisiana BRAG Chapter is "The Bayou Thunder Club". A local commercial artist designed our logo with the chevron shape to accommodate year rockers. Here's our patch as it was approved by BRAG National...

I have one of the "illegal" patches in my office. They were "approved before they were not approved". John Kerry was running BRAG at the time |

Anybody else get a notice in the mail from Buell about the BRAG discontinuance? Yes, today. It states that Jan 31, 2007 is the end and there is good news...there is to be a refund for my paid up multiple year membership! Mine says: "Your existing BRAG membership benefits will continue until your 2007 expiration date. To view existing benefits go to www.buell.com/brag beginning Nov 3." I guess it's easier for them to continue to extend benefits for 8 months, rather than refunding a partial year. By the way, the back of the envelope had an S3 on the flap. Must be some old letterhead stock. (Message edited by aeholton on November 13, 2006) |

Sweet, I don't have a club I belong to as we have none as such. I think I'm the only active Buell Rider around here. I know there is a XB9R around but haven't seen it out this past year. Gave up the local HOG group a couple years ago as well. Nice Hat. |

I have one of those pink hats, and it's even autographed by this guy that was running around at homecoming taking a sharpie to peoples bikes! I figure he's some kind of graffiti artist and he might be famous some day. |
