Hi , sorry for the off topic post , I finally gave in and bought a van , I picked up a 99 chrysler town and country mini van , one thing I cant figure out is the interior lighting , When you open the drivers door the lights dont come on inside , I have tried different switch combos with no results , I can get them to come on with the switch and stay on , but ther must be a way to have them come on when i OPEN THE DOOR , any help will be appreciated , also I don't have a manual ,Thanks | ||

This may sound strange, but if I remember correctly, Chrysler/Dodge interior lights won't come on if your tail lights or brake lights aren't working. Start there. I'll check my manual, it's a 96 Dodge Caravan, but the same concept. | ||

OK - according to my manual The front courtesy overhead lights do not come on if the headlamp dimmer thumbwheel control is in the interior light ON position. The illuminated entry system will not operate if the headlight dimmer thumbwheel switch is in the "defeat" position (in its extreme downward position). That's all I find right now. | ||

Your drivers door open/close switch may be bad. I dont work on Domestic cars anymore but that is what I would check. | ||

Yeah if the switch is a roll-type actuator with a fixed point "click" at the extreme upper and lower position, it's probably just the brushes in the switch. Or some such. Try replacing the left front tire. | ||

I hated to sell our '96 Caravan. It pulled a trailer better than our Trailblazer with the 4.2l 6 cyl. It was our third mini-van and the wife was tired of them. Now she doesn't like the Trailblazer either so she drives my Impala every chance she gets. At least she doesn't ride my cycles. | ||
