Another thread put a thought in my craw...

On adding lights and whatnots to a bike to make it more visible. Which color is okay where and so.

What about something along the lines of those strobe lights they put on buses? One small periodically flashing light could probably as effective or more than a bunch of gawdy LED or neon...

Anyone know the legality or il-legality of one?

generally, strobes and other flashing lights are limited for special use vehicles

the flashing brake lights ya see on many baggers and Ironbutt rigs are ok, so far as most LEOs are concerned

Check with your local hiway patrol office they should be able to tell you what you could get away with.

Modulated lighting (dim/bright) must operate at a certain frequency to be legal...

Look at other bikes coming at you and decide what stands out the most. I like an amber pair of lights that aren't too close to the headlight. Down by the front wheel seems to be best. Just the white headlight doesn't always give good visibility.
I rewired my S3 front turn signals through a relay so that they are on all the time and blink off with the signal.
