I was somewhat surprised to discover that Valentino Rossi's long lost twin brother, Alfredo, has resurfaced as a Vespa mechanic in Palermo. Apparently he is a important figure in local moped competitions, riding a highly modified Derbi. These events are rather important fixtures on the Sicilian sporting calander, and Alfredo often features on local TV.

"Seems to me this board is becoming more like SacBorg.... totally useless." Not that there's anything wrong with that. Dave |

I'm pretty sure that Rossi, a great fan of any sort of humour, including toilet, is laughing his arse off at this stuff. Rocket |

Rossi does have a sense of humor. Remember the inflatable doll on his bike during a victory lap? The man is a deadly serious machine on a motorcycle, but he does have more than his share of "bad hair days" |

Rossi does have a great sense of humour...that's one of the things I like about him, he seems to really have fun. ...but something tells me a lotta people here would be very offended/insulted if there was a Hayden/monkey thread going right now |

Confused about the Italian? Simple solution, just go get a Babel Fish translation. Then you have nice, easy to understand English: "Thanks Many, Valentino!! The piu well R-di.fortuna on the championship. It strains, Campionissimo!!" Maybe it is English as spoken by a fish? :> Jon, what does it mean please? Jack |

Nice translation Jack. In more conventional English it might read like this: "Thanks a lot, Valentino!" "Best of luck in the Championship." "Sforza Campionissimo" is a bit harder to translate, being idiomatic Italian. Roughly translated it means: "Go get 'em, you be THE MAN!!" Is that better? |

"Sforza Campionissimo" Hey that's what it sez on my Duc's seat unit, lol. Rocket |

I like Rossi a LOT for sure. But I am rooting for Hayden to win! Either way, I won't be disappointed. |

You got the right idea Blake. Root for good racing and the guy you like. It is too "NASCAR" to root against someone who happens to be better. And thanks Jon, I guess that idiomatic Italian is what confused Babel Fish too. Babel Fish is better than being clueless though. I sold a radar system on eBay to a guy in Italy once. He did not speak a word of English and started emailing me in Italian (I speak none). So I Babel Fished every one of his emails and every one of my replies to him and we got through the deal and he shifted to English and left me a nearly incomprehensible but obviously positive feedback. I wondered if he had used Babel Fish to translate the feedback. Jack (Message edited by jackbequick on September 30, 2006) |
