I was just looking at the Orlando HD web site as a result of one of the neighborhood wives calling me today to let me know she was participating in a motorcycling introduction seminar this weekend at that dealership. Under "Rider Education" there is a section of frequently asked questions and one was what kind of bikes do the students ride for classroom purposes. The response...."Buell Blasts manufactured by Harley-Davidson". I was floored. No matter how I spun it in my head that seemed like a totally false statement. What do you think? |

I agree with you. It would say Harley Davidson on the tank instead of Buell. I hate telling people that I have a Buell and have them say, aren't those made by Harley. "Nope they are not" is generally my reply. It might have a sportster motor but not made by H-D. |

Thor/P-3/Blast is and was a Buell project and product, the first engine specifically designed for Buell by HD to Buell Spec.s - That is the gist of it - that and that HD owns Buell - lol - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Beachbuell - Obviously I know the motor was made by H-D. The bike itself wasn't. From all the info I have read on the S2T it was hand created in Buell's factory not Harley Davidson's. Should have been more specific. |

My Blast has HD logos and references all over it. The Speedo says something like manufactured by Harley Davidson and the carb has a HD shield on it. Whatever, it's a cool little bike and has served me and my G'friend well. It's the best little backup bike when your XB is in the shop getting an assload of motor work. |

Motor and some parts may be HD, however, it is definately Buell, and the motor is the first motor specifically designed and built for Buell, a true sign that other Buell specific motors may be built by HD for Buell in the future. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

>>>>Thor/P-3/Blast is and was a Buell project and product That's not an entirely accurate statement. I'd suggest you delete the word "was". By the way, the converse may be said about another project that was morphed across company lines in a lowlife move that occurred one day when someone had been injured and missed a meeting only to be sold down the river. The Müller-Lyer component of the industry. |

Is that how the (now) v-rod motor "grew too large" for Erik's purposes? I'd always wondered how that could happen when I'm sure there had to have been some very specific design parameters in place from day one of the project. |

So Court - are you saying that the Blast has a future past this or the next year? GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I hope he means the 650cc, 50 hp version in a Lightening chassis. |

All that being said, can someone tell me why Blasts are the only Buell bike to show up at H-D demos(well at least around here). Just curious. |

I'm still betting "was" is an accurate statement I think I know what Court is refering to. The idea that there should be a bike like the Blast was concieved at HD. HD didn't want to do it though. Someone pitched it to Erik. |

I am sorry, I really like my kids Blasts, I can hardly wait for them to grow up and buy bikes of their own so I can ride them more. I don't think I rode the Sportster as much as I rode the Blasts this year. |

I know of one dealer that dropped the XBs, but kept the Blast because they run the Rider's Edge classes. They may be adjusting the marketing to cover that situation. |

Yes, however, the real question is - does the Blast engine have a future with Buell? Or is it an experiment that has served its purpose - that is the question! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |
