I'm looking to purchase my fourth Buell- Ulysses. I'll post my current one (XB9SX) for sale here(in the classifieds)soon. Before that, I'm going to a few dealerships to see what the trade value would be. I'm wondering if I should take it to the dealer with all the extras that I've added to it, over $1200 worth of stuff or return it to as close to stock as I can. I have had reccomendations both ways so far. Maybe DaveS can give me your input. Thanks. |

I need details! Miles Mods Tires Pictures are always good I know you take good care of your stuff so I wouldn't need to see the bike. I can then work you up a deal! |

Return it to stock, I can't speak for Daves, but the HD dealers around Central Fl. all will KILL you on a trade-in, I did trade one, my M2, and then passed on trading my XB9S when I was wanting a 12Ss, because all they give you is the basement. I am working on paying off the 9 early so at least whatever I get if I sell it will be $$'s in my pocket. I am actually pretty happy with it again after I got the racekit on, maybe some oversize cylinders and headwork and I will pass on the 12 altogether. |

Don't think I've ever "killed" anyone? A bike, any bike, is worth what it is worth. I do consider extras when I figure what I think I can sell it for. From there I figure out what I am going to need to spend on tires, damage, oil changes. Then I figure a little profit to keep the boss happy and the lights turned on. That is how I determine trade value. Retail-reconditioning-profit=trade in. Of course, depending on where I have the new bike priced at there may be some "wiggle" room there too? I just try to treat everyone fairly. |

My M2 only got me $2400 in trade-in, no crashes either, but it was 4 years old. They were down initially at 3400 on the 9S @ 2 years old, but I managed to get them up to $4200, but it still left me upside down and they wouldn't move off MSRP on the 12Ss. I am right side up now, but I am a little surprised how low the trade-in/resale numbers are on these BUELLS, I love the ride but they don't seem to hold much value in the resale market, but not many motos do. |

Part of that blame lies with the Buell dealers that are giving the bikes away to begin with. When you de-value the product new, it also affects the value used. |
