I don't have the magazine right here in front of me, but I remember reading the article and seeing the photoshopped image. As I remember, they were running the article as a result of somebody who wrote (called) in and said they saw something that they "shouldn't have" out on the road...a water-cooled Sporty. The article never said that the bike would be an 08 model, but rather openly speculated about the possibility of seeing it in 08. Big difference. Plus, I seem to recall that they acknowledged that the image was their photoshop creation, or as they would imagine a w-c Sporty might look. It wasn't like they were trying to pass anything on as fact, or pull one over on you guys, but just having a little fun. You all are obviously too smart for them! I am not sure why Eboos and Crusty felt the need to castigate the magazine so vehemently (I don't think that they said they even saw the article, did they?), but that is their business. I can't see that this mag deserves it over anything Buell though, as MC has openly stated that they thought Buells were cool...at least the newer ones. The articles and reviews have been very flattering actually. I am not a big Boehm fan, because he comes off as someone I used to know from New Jersey...and was kind of a prick. But he does run a very classy magazine, or did. To each his own though... jimidan |

Jimidan, I haven't read a copy of Motorcyclist in years. I saw too many articles where they could not find anything good to say about Buells. I particularly remember how much fun they had intentionally revving an S2 to 8,000 RPM because it would smoke so much on deceleration. I also remember the "test" of a '99 M2 where they couldn't find anything wrong, but every positive trait was minimized. And, of course, we all know that the Xbs can't handle well with that short wheelbase and too steep steering head angle. They claim objectivity, while displaying blatant prejudice. I give no credence nor value to any of the lies and half truths that they pass of as "moto-journalism". Incidentally, did you know that Mitch Boehm worked for American Honda before he became Editor for that rag? |

Jimidan, There is a long-standing animosity with Motorcyclist and some Buell enthusiasts. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/149301.html I still don't read the mag, and consider the bike tests to be more about the writers than about the bikes. Still think my original statement is true...the XB's are too small to carry the huge egos of the Motorcylist staff. Bill |

in reality everything is water cooled! and how many Buells/HD do you know that have either a fan or an oil cooler? As long as the HD/Buell stay simple and easy to mod. Easy to work on. Bullet proof. And of course the sound. |

If it rains and you are riding, it is water cooled. At least that is what I got from the comment. |

Actually, all engines are air cooled. Some use an intermediate coolant between the metal and the air. |
