1 inch? I used 2" and it turned out fantastic. Far as color goes thermotec offers copper, silver and black spray. http://www.thermotec.com/products/full/full.html here is the link to my picture from doing my 12ss http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/215088.html hope this helps |

I have wrapped alot of headers and for me motorcycles need 1 inch. 1 inch makes a tighter/cleaner look. 1 inch wraps around very twisty headers better than 2 inch. On some dei and thermo tec documentation it will tell you to use 1 inch on motorcycle applications. I prefer Thermo-tec Generation II Copper Header Wrap. It improves heat resistance up to 30% (what they claim) over traditional header wrap. It also has a low profile 1/16" thickness. No matter what you get make sure you only do a 1/4 inch overlap and dont double it up. Anymore than 1/4 will cause hot spots and could make your headers brittle. (fall apart) I saw a guy who wrapped his headers with 1/2 to 3/4 inch overlap. He ran the bike for 2 years like that he dropped the bike down it landed on his headers and they shattered kinda like glass. American Sport Bike or your local hot rod shop can get it for you. |

thx for the compliment. I did it a little for heat protection, but more for the blue/purple pipe problem. The problem was I didn't like it and I wanted a black pipe, guess I want a mono-color bike. I want outlaw black rims bad. I wrapped mine more than a 1/4" I am positive of that. Far as hot spots and what not I have no clue.....I guess I will keep my eye out for a used stock pipe for a spare.....and not worry about it. Lets face it I have blown more on lesser widgets for my bike than even the price of a new pipe which is in the the neighborhood of 175 (don't quote me on that) |

Two inch worked okay on my Cyclone and I overlapped it a full 1" in order to achieve double thickness everywhere. It is more difficult to work with, but if you are careful it looks great. I did the wrapping for heat protection and it works wonderfully. |

Well looks like no love for my inch wrap or my 1/4 inch overlap. Heres some info from DEI. Directions with a chart for determining how much wrap you need. http://designengineering.com/images/installation_instructions/INS015%20-%20Exhau st%20Wrap.pdf |

I used about 40' of the 50' roll both times I've applied the 2" wrap with 1" overlap. Barker's feeling no love. It's the battle between the conventional one-incher and the mongo-mega-overlaping two-inchers. Victory goes to the two-inchers! |

Used 2" on my force pipes on an X1. Only 1/4 overlap where possible. Used white becuase it was left over from a car project. I highly suggest buying any color other than white. That cloth will soak up alot of paint. The paint will fade unevenly. I found some clear reflective paint that lights up at night when light is on it. Sprayed it over the black paint. Kinda looks cool and not too rice looking |

used 2 inch black with a 1 inch overlap to double the thickness on that skinny XB9R header. Bought a couple cans of high temp black barbecue paint (alot cheaper than the special header wrap paint? ). I also used this paint to make my silver hoops black (alot cheaper than outlaw black hoops). Finally my frugal self used stainless steel annealed 14 ga. tie wire and it looks and works great. Good luck. |

I can't find prices for this stuff on the posted links. A 50ft roll of 2 inch black wrap is £70 from Demon Tweeks in the UK. That's extortion in my book! Rocket |
