I just installed the Force Header setup, and there is not room for the standard exhaust gaskets. With standard tapered gaskets in place, the header will not fit in tight enough to get the flange tight. If the gaskets are off, it fits up and in tight.

Are the other gaskets that I need or is this setup meant to be run without gaskets?

I thought that the gaskets were supposed to crush down without bottoming out.

Or are they different from the standard style?

Yes, run the earlier Evo type gaskets and I believe the Screamin Eagle Hi-Performance gaskets are the same. Any HD/Buell dealership should have both types, but you will have to request them. You will see that one is tapered and one is square.

If you have any issue with this I can post HD part number.

Interesting...

When I installed my force header (and the stock header now that I've gone back to it) I used the standard gaskets. I never got the header flange to be "tight" as such, but certainly sealed as the gaskets crush. I thought that was the way it was supposed to work. That said... I seem to remember that my old CB750 had copper crush washers and to me that seems like a better system...

So the Flanges don't need to be flush like the stock headers? Is this how it was designed?

I had it on there once with gaskets and there was almost a good half inch between the flange and head.

Silly question. Did you get all of the old gasket out?

I agree you need the flat S/E type gasket. If I remember the force has flat ends, instead of the rounded ends on the Buell header. Other wise you will end up with bits of the Buell gasket pushed up between the head and the header.

The ends are flat, they seem to fit perfectly without a gasket.

Yes Tim, all of the previous gasket was removed, but great suggestion. I am certainly glad that is not the case! : )

I will try a flat gasket and see how that works.
