you can say thanks to this vet by voting. And voting informed. I gave 8 years of my life to the Marines. Many have given it all. The least we can do is spend a few more minutes to read about a candiate and then go down and vote. Spending 30 seconds on some website is an insult. |

Ryker, first thank you for your service. Second I do vote informed, so it is insulting for you to make the accusation that anyone here doesn't.I am sure most of the servicemen and women wouldnt be insulted by getting a post card from strangers thanking them for their service and sacrifices for our freedom weather it took 30 seconds on some website or 3 mins. writing it out by hand. A close friend was in Iraq, just returned a few months ago,he said some of the best mail he got was stuff like this from complete strangers thanking them. |

Ryker, yes, thank you for your service. Consider yourself insulted and move on! All I'm gonna say on that. From the websites files, from someone stationed overseas: "There's nothing like getting mail from home. A letter has a sense of warmth and is more personal than e-mail. With regular mail, it's all yours to keep and take with you when you’re on the move," said Specialist Tommy Brooks from the 2-130 Illinois Infantry Battalion served a 12-month tour in Iraq. And another: s I was leaving an un-eventful Valentine's Day today, one of the mail clerks yelled "Adams!! You have a package!!" A package, I thought to myself. I'm not expecting anything. What could this be? I took the box into my office and closed the door. As I opened the box, a flood of joy came over me as I looked over the cards from you and the young ones, one of my co-workers walked in to see tears rolling down my eyes. I had never received a gift with this much love, packed into one little place from someone that I've never known. A simple gift to let our troops know that we havn't forgotten. |

I'll second the idea of voting from an informed state -- best use of hte freedoms so many have given so much for -- things have changed greatly since I was a uniformed minion of the federales, but I can't imagine that ANY word from ANY one expressing thanks and hopes for well being would be anything but welcome thanks for the link! |

Ryker thanks for your service to your country. I gave 26 years to my country in the Coast Guard. I will always be a Coastie and proud of it. We as Americans (and alot do) need to send post cards, thank them, get out and vote for the informed candidate of our choice who ever that may be. We need to look around and be thankful for what we have and what we as individuals can achieve. If you are a vet go march on memorial day. Let the younger not forget and show that you are proud of your service. That you would be proud of their's We as Americans complain alot about alot of things, but for the most part we have freedoms that others in the world can only dream about. I could make a bad comment about any elected official from the top down and not worry that I will be arrested. That is freedom. I can go to what ever church I want. I can publicly disagree with the church you go to because it is not mine but in the end we are free to make that choice. In the end we could all go rideing have fun secure in the fact that we are not spying on each other. The price for this is not only a strong military but one the is supported and respected by its citizens. To those in service to my country, my hat is off to you. thank you
