Just wondering if anyone else has checked out the live videos of bands at youtube? (http://www.youtube.com) Man, if you can think of an artist, they'll have video of them. Here's one of my favorites: Johnny Winter doing "Highway 61 Revisited" at Madison Square Gardens in 1993 for Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary Celebration. Johnny is still the slide guitar master! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8siLZ4zNbY |

Yegads. . . . I just watched the Richie Havens one. What memories and was Williams cooking or what? I wonder how Havens had that guitar tuned to play it with his thumb? I know what I'm gonna be trying for the next couple hours! Thanks for the link |

Here's another great one I just found- anyone remember "Hocus Pocus" by the band "Focus"? The lead singer/keyboardist is a riot... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yekVlhBeTA |

I just found some amazing old videos. A young Rod Stewart singing back-up for Long John Baldry. Screamin'Jay Hawkins Harry, the Hipster, Gibson singing 4F Ferdinand. I didn't think any of this could have existed. Thanks again for the hook-up |

Wonder if there's footage of Hendrix playing backup for James Brown, Lil' Richard or Tina Turner? Couldn't find any... yet. (Message edited by tork on September 12, 2006) |

Johnny is still the slide guitar master! Opinion, of course, but I think Ry Cooder is still alive. |

Glad you guys liked the link. Everyone I've told about it has been amazed by the stuff they've found. Opinion, of course, but I think Ry Cooder is still alive. Well.... I guess that depends on how you like your slide guitar. Ry is certainly a tasty slide player; Johnny is (in general) a showier slide player. Of course, Johnny's physical condition ain't the greatest in the world these days. |
