I saw the amber alert today and lost it. I don't understand why I can't get that level of support from my local police department. If it wasn't for the Badwebbers doing their part we'd literally be nowhere. Thanks to each and every one of you for your support, prayers and advice. I believe they may be nearby for the following reasons: 1) lack of funds - Randie had maybe $50 and I' assume that since Rob hasn't worked since July at most he has $500. He smokes, drinks and uses weed and coke. They'll run out of cash quickly. 2) They used to hang out in the Harper's Ferry area and he lives within walking distance. Lots of woods and KOA campgrounds. If they are there the rain this weekend is going to make them move. 3)We found a few numbers on Randie's phone to people living in Rohrersville, MD and Martinsburg WV. He also has friends in Laurel, MD. I believe they may be somewhere in those areas if not also alternating where they stay. He made 2 calls to (202) 786 7317 (DC area code) right before he picked Randie up. I gave this information to the Deputy investigating the case and he said the best he could do is call it and search the owner on the internet (been there done that). If anyone can help with that number... -Ras |

Ras, Do you have any info about a particular part of Laurel they may be in? Has she mentioned anything about a particular person there?...a street...a store.. anything? I used to live there and I'm still pretty close. I could scope it out easily. I've kept my eyes open but haven't spotted anything yet. Dave |

Ras, I went through Grant Ave a little while ago and the surrounding community and did not spot the car or them. I also cruised around the mall and a few other places. It is not far from where I work so I will make a pass thru after work Monday nite and whenever I am in the area at different times. What is the probability that they are in this area? Does this guy shoot pool or anything like that? Any interests that might take them to a particular kind of place? Dave |

Ok, this many days having passed, and they are still around. Probably unlikely they will bolt at this point. They're broke and lurking around friends with refrigerators and nonattendant parents. Sounds like you're hot on the trail, keep it up, I've been praying for this daily. God bless. |

No sightings on the car. They may not have it but I can't say for sure. Regardless of how much he denies it, I firmly believe Rob's father is playing a significant role in this. -Ras |

Unfortunately no, nothing new. The case hasn't even been assigned to anyone for investigation and the deputy handling the case is off until Friday. It looks like they're staying in state so even if they are caught, Rob will most likely end up walking. I also imagine having Randie back in the house, once caught, will be close to unbearable. At this point I'm beginning to think that the best lesson she'll learn is that which life will give her after the choices she has made. This is really a sad situation. I wish I had better news to report. -Ras |

At this point I'm beginning to think that the best lesson she'll learn is that which life will give her after the choices she has made. That's how life is some times. But, as parents we do our best to help cushion the blow, and hope our children will learn from our mistakes, rather than feel the pain of making their own. At the very least, she will always know you love her and want the best for her, weather she wants to admit it yet or not. Also, we know how much you love her, and want her to be safe, and secure. You also know you have a quite large network of people you can count on when things ain't goin' your way. I'll echo what Blake said...Stay strong. And by the way, I'm still optimistic. |

One step forward... A detective was finally assigned to the case today. We gave her all the information we had and fortunately we will see some progress soon. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and support, they have made this experience bearable. It's good to know you have friends (even though I've only met a few of you) when you need them. -Ramon |

This is what we have been advised to do by our County Juvenille Services if/when they find them: Do not let her back in the house, let the police handle everything. not matter how hard they try to dump her on us. We visited a counselor last week who started a case on her and should have presented a petition to the County court (on Tuesday) to issue a warrant for failure to appear for treatment. This apparently has more weight than a missing persons/runnaway report. Being a minor, the county will take custody and ensure she at least completes her high school education and receives counseling. Rob will more than likely walk away from all of this with a slap on the wrist if-that. Here's something ironic, I wrote this letter a few days before she left: Randie, No matter how bad or hopeless things appear, a person always has their God given right to make a choice, good or bad, until they die. Obviously some of the choices we made as parents brought us to this day. If you are reading this, you have made the choice to leave our home and make it on your own. I will not comment on your decision, nor beg you to change your mind, the choice you made, was after all, yours to make. I am sorry you have made this choice and I will miss you. Nevertheless, it is important that you know a few things: 1) If you need us, we are here. 2) If you are sick or hurt, please go to a hospital, they have to treat everybody whether or not they have health insurance – expect to wait a long time. 3) A high school diploma is better than a G.E.D. (it shows that you had the discipline to finish high school). 4) A 4-year college/university diploma is even better for the same reason I mentioned above. 5) Because you are now your only source of income and not dependant on your parents, you are eligible for grants (“free money”) to go to college. 6) Before signing for a student loan, make sure you understand when you have to begin paying it back- this screws a lot of people. 7) Finish school before considering having children, it will make it a lot easier for you. 8) Save money first (10% of your check), pay your bills, then party with what you have left. 9) Never “dip” into your savings ever. You will regret you did the day you need it. 10) Pay your bills and taxes on time every time. 11) Children have nothing to do with the love between two people. (I know this sounds horrible, but think about it). 12) Never be afraid to leave a bad relationship. 13) This is your life, live it your way, but be righteous and God fearing or it will be a short life. It has been an honor and a privilege to be your father, I’ve always had great hopes that your life as an adult is as incredible as you are and that we’d be there to share it with you. I left one item out which is probably the most important: Carefully think about the choices you have made in your life and learn, carefully think about the choices you will make as you make them because the choices we make once made, are permanent.
