For those who may care, I put my Cyclone on a scale today at work. Fully gassed & oiled the SOB weighed in at 484 lbs, 670 with me & my riding gear, including a Makarov in the tank bag. |

That's good and interesting info. Thanks for sharing. I have a '97 Cyclone and have wanted to see what it weighs with all the stuff removed/upgraded and also for track duty. The mirrors, headlight, tail light, turn signals, kickstand, rear hugger/fender/belt-guard, passenger pegs and other stuff that come off for track duty add up to a hefty box of parts. Is your '98 Cyclone close to stock or is it missing some OEM parts? |

We have a commercial scale at work I was thinking of using to weigh my 2000 model. I just gotta convince the plant manager to let me ride my bike into the shipping department. |

With me on my XB9S at the dyno-drags we weighed in at 601 lbs. Didn't get to weigh the bike by itself. That was with me in street clothes, close to 160 lbs. |

Not a pure bread bullet head, I guess you'd say I'm an American Mut! A light-weight one at that. |

Gotta take fuel capacity and weight of gasoline to know how light your bike is compared to other bikes. 5 gallons of gasoline = about 37.5 lbs (1 gallon is about 6.25 lbs at 72 degrees F) 3.5 gallons = 21.9 lbs. |

Blake, the bike is as stock, save for a V&H exhaust and Buell Race air cleaner. |

On the Dyno Drag my bike and I weighed in at 635lbs .. me being about 170 of them. (99 M2) .. Don't remember for sure but I don't think I had much more than a 1/2 tank of gas. |

"including a Makarov in the tank bag" With an 8 round capacity, and sheading 1mm per case over 9mm NATO (Luger or Parabellum) you should have had several ounces of weight cut from your bike. For an even greater weight savings use the non reloadable aluminum cased rounds from CCI, or switch to a .380 ACP to cut an additional 1mm off the case length. |

We have the individual wheel scales at work so I ran my S3 on them with about 1/2 tank of gas. 240# front, 260# rear. 500# falls within reason for a wet weight. My ST1300 claims a dry weight of 650#. It actually weighs 740#. I wonder what they leave off to lose 90#. Granted it has a 7.7 gallon gas tank and holds 4 qts of oil. |

Most manufacturers actually report dry wight as the "shipping" weight which used to exclude not only gasoline and oil, but also the battery. It is ridiculous and utterly confusing for the poor consumers who read conflicting data reported by moto journos and other sources. Tell me what the damn bike weighs with with or without a full fuel tank. End of story. |

Some time back, when working at a commuter airline, I put my 2001 X-1 (w/a full tank of gas) on our certified freight scales, and the number was 498lbs. Only mod was the addition of a Jagg oil cooler. |

Two words for weight reduction: "HOLLOW POINTS" (if they'll feed OK, that is) (I've been wanting to gas/oil my bikes and roll them on a scale sometime, good thread BTW) |

Suggesting we use firearms to impart lightening holes into our motorcycles may be a bit crude, yet it may be effective. What was that Hollywood flick where Don Johnson employed that method on a big IL4? Great scene that was. |

"HD and the Marlboro man" isn't that bad, as long as it is understood to be comedy. |
