Sep 04, 2006 From a press release issued by Roehr Motorcycle Company:
Roehr Motorcycle Company to debut Revolution engined superbike. The Roehr Motorcycle Company is nearing completion of their new superbike prototype. The new Roehr superbike will be powered by the Harley-Davidson* Revolution* engine. "We are very excited about this spectacular engine powering our new superbike" says company founder Walter Roehrich, "Our goal is to produce an American sportbike that can compete with the worlds best in street bike performance. This engine provides us a modern American made engine platform offering impeccable reliability with high power output." Roehr Motorcycles plans to debut the prototype by the end of the year, with production planned to begin in 2007, provided funding can be secured. In addition, a race only "R" version is planned for later production, featuring a highly tuned 1200cc version with larger bore and shorter stroke dimensions allowing higher RPM capabilities and 180+ hp potential. The new Roehr superbike features a composite CrMo steel/aluminum frame with top quality cycle parts from Marchesini , Brembo, and Ohlins, with all new body work in carbon fiber. Specifications : Wheelbase: 56 inches Rake/Trail 24deg./ 97mm Dry weight 435lbs Seat height 31.5 inches The new Roehr superbike will be available in limited quantities, pricing has not yet been established. Further details and pictures will be released later this year. More info is also available at www.roehrmotorcycles.com or contact: wroehrich@roehrmotorcycles.com. The Roehr Motorcycle Company is a small volume manufacturer of high quality sports and racing motorcycles, made in the USA. *Harley-Davidson and Revolution are registered trade names of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company and is used in this context for identification purposes only and is in no way associated with the Roehr Motorcycle Company. Wow! What would a skeptic say. Hmmm... |

"Roehr Motorcycles is seeking a financial partnership/ investment to begin production of the new superbike." A skeptic would say this - "Not bloody likely." Jim |

I guess my post titled VRSC RR? was a little too cryptic. |

Jim, You are too skeptical. I'm sure they are indeed seeking a partner. |

Those pictures are of the 'old' model powered by the Hyosung/Highland (delete as appropriate!) motors. The new one will look very different apparently. |

Isn't Hyosung rumored to supply parts to Suzuki? Thats what I read while researching Hysosung anyways... Hyosung and UM motorcycles are joint if I recall correctly. |

I looked for pics of the Revo - motored bike and after an "EXHAUSTIVE" 5 minutes spent googling, I'm convinced that it too is "waiting for investors" Hyosung is also the motor of choice in the Fisher bike Far as I can tell (ref the above 5 minutes googling) - neither the Fisher nor Roehr are more than teasers trying to get money out of investors. It's a tough road - though if Roehr actually got permission from the HD mothership, they've at least had to do some homework I reckon. |

There is one other company that uses Harley-Davidson (with warranty intact) engines other than Buell, that I know of. Thunder Mountain Customs http://www.thundermountaincustoms.com/ From what I heard, it wasn't a walk in the park o get to use the mother ship's engines. |

You sure they don't just buy complete H-D motorcycles and customize them? |

Dry weight 435lbs See why Erik didn't want to use it.. that thing is a boat for a superbike. |

Good point, that would put it up near 500 LBs full wet. |

Glitch, yup, those Thundermountain bikes are really nice bikes, for what they are. All HD motors, electronics, brakes, and instrumentation. Even the forward controls are HD's. They ain't cheap either. About $30K+ But as close as you're ever going to get to a full on factory custom, with a full warranty. Hals HD just brought the Thundermountain bikes in. Got a chance to help out with some demo rides a couple of weeks ago. Lots of positive responses from the HD folk. Especially on the 103" "Screaming Beagle" motor I can appreciate the looks of a bike like that, but had no desire to ride one myself. Just can't stand forward controls. So they "forced" me to ride a 12S for the day |

If I was going the direction of a custom it would be a Iron Horse. Better engines and same type warranty. HD is still way down on HP for there bikes. |

SMH-D&Buell sell them as well. Foot forward ain't my choice either. The best thing about those bikes are the paint. Really really nice paint. Customs, aren't for me, although I can see why some people love 'em. |

It may not be ideal for racing due to it's weight but at 180hp that would be one hell of a street bike, |

But the 180 HP version is for "race only", kinda like an XBRR or a Harley-Davidson Destroyer. |

Details, Details.... Slap some mirrors, blinkers and some treaded tires on it and no one will have to know! Besides Dosen't Buell sell "For Race Only" parts for the Tubers? Mind you I would never put anything Illegal on my M2 |
