i have found a used 2000 Blast with less then 1500 miles on it but the owner says there is a small oil leak. according to the owner (i have not seen the bike yet) it is the gasket where the oil line connects to the header. is this a major job to replace or is this what i have heard referd to as the rocker box gasket that is prone to leaking on older blast models? thanks for your help George |

I have a 2003 Blast and lemme tell you what, the oil line doesn't connect to my header. When I was shopping for mine, the 2000 - 2002 had some early model teething pains, which is why I chose the 2003. Unless the price is outstanding, I would keep looking. But that's me. |

i was just thinking to myself.......why would the oil line connect to the header? does not make sence to me but as i said i have not seen the bike yet. maybe i should take your advice and stay away from the 2000 model and look for a 2003 or newer. |

I think Blast is trying to say that early model Blasts had a rocker cover gasket that leaked and has been upgraded to a metal one. I also agree with Dan. There is normally no great shortage of used blasts, and there are plenty of 2003's and later in the $2000 range. |

Rockerbox gasket -- 1 hammer job. What's the asking price? You may be able to save yourself 5 or 6 sets of tires by going with the 2000 model. We've been through a few of them and the little buggers are bullet proof with minimal maintenance. G2 |

I got my 2003 Blast on EBay in January 05 with 2200 miles for $2k. It needed a back tire. Don't know about prices up your way, but that's what I paid. |

You're kidding, right? I thought the SpyHunter Smoke Screen was the most aftermarket Blast add-on. -Saro |

Maybe they mean the oil line where it attaches to the frame? |

It sounds like the rockerbox gasket. This fails like clockwork. Replace it with the metal one and it won't leak again. The $300 that he wants to fix it is inline with what a Harley dealer would charge you to fix it. His asking price is a little high, but not astronomically so. You can look around on ebay to see what they are going for. |
