commission...and they're probably not rollin' in dough.....usually a fixed rate on the new bikes and potentially better money on used.

I know a couple, but asked a roundabout question because it isn't any of my business. I know one dealership who does a shared commission, which I think rocks. The reason why it rocks is because, let's say you were caught on a bad day, and the customer didn't really like what you were wearing (ok, stupid analogy) and a co-worker did, will the co-worker sells, you don't care, and you still get your money for it. I think DaveS makes about 10 Million Dollars a year, or at least he should as many as he has sold. : D

I know plenty o' HD sale personnel: each dealer's different, but commish is the order of the day. an average of 35k is likely correct in cooler climes, double that in warmer....NY, Conn.,AZ.,Ill. and Cali will always have a bit higher scale, esp. in nicer areas

Doesn't matte how much he makes, cause Dave sends all his millions to Kandie. Good man Dave. : )

I mean seriously... why else do you think Kandie is still tolerating the man? joker

He also must go out into the frozen wilderness, stalk, hunt down, kill and bring home the freezer meat every year.

That Kandie is one prize of a spouse and Dave works his tail off to earn his keep.

Smart man that Dave. : )

My sales guy mentioned that he was pulling in around $70k a year. Of course it helped that his wife ran the operation, and they sold a lot of bikes.

Guy who sold me mine claimed he made between 80-100k per year. Strange thing, he got fired about 6 weeks after he sold me my bike. I think he had a disagreement with the Laidlaw family.

Well, thank God for one more strong link in a chain with many weak ones in it.

I don't think it's the same Laidlaw family. It's actually sort of a common surname around here, as I've met two Laidlaw's randomly who knew nothing about the Harley dealer but of course they had seen the buses. Not related to that either.

I interviewed with a Milwaukee area dealer about 4 years ago for the Buell "specialist" sales position. The guy that was leaving the job was pulling down about $55k-60k per year (plus the use of a new demo bike every year).
