One of the reasons that I haven't bought a digital body yet is that I am waiting for Nikon to build one with a bigger chip to allow for the correct focal length with my lenses. Canon made one, and I kind of wish I started using Canon to begin with. |

Nice ,Court.....I've stopped in at a few of those Camera stores last time in NY.I was into Underwater at the time and was shopping Closeup lenses for my Nikonos.....Told the guy the price they were advertising and he refused to honor it 'cause I didn't have the ad....remembering I saw a magazine store a few minutes ago.Walked back into Empire State Building lobby, brought back to store and you should have seen that guys face!He very madly slammed my lenses down on counter.I told him I wanted a set that wasn't slammed and he turned purple! But he gave me the price and off I went.I notice in the Mags that alot of those stores seem to be in Brooklyn now.I am jealous that you can walk around the corner! We have a couple of good stores here but they aren't cheap by any standard! But I guess thats what the Internet is for!Happy shooting and hope we get to shoot together soon!Do you plan on being at Mid-Ohio? |

I really want one of these. I would love to have the 2.8, but for the money, this would be a very nice addition to the camera bag. 70-200 f/4

Very nice photo Kyle. I just hate it when people fool around with my pictures, but I just couldn't help working on yours for a few minutes: hard to keep a Photoshoper off his computer. I simply made the horizon level. Now I think the eye is able to transverse the distance in a more natural and evocative way. Please do not take any offense. None intended.

Jon, no worries. I had my tripod, but I was on an embankment. But now there appears to be an obvious mark that you tampered with it on the right hand side... (Message edited by brineusaf on August 31, 2006) |

Another picture.... from one castle balcony to the vastness below... notice the other castle in the picture. The other one is very very small compared to the one I was in when I took the shot. |

although i have not read the entire post it is my opinion that you should only buy quality glass the first time instead of buying cheap glass at first only to replace it with quality glass latter on. i only have canon L glass except for a few of the non L sleeper lenses in the canon lineup, 85 f/1.8 & 50 f/1.8 are two that come to mind. George PS: check out fredmiranda.com it's one of the best websites out there for photographers. |

To me, for internet sharing or forwarding by email, I think an essential component of "breathtaking" is that the entire photo is seen in a typical browser or email program. Most of the time 800x600 or so works for me. I'm not a photoshopper but I've had a longtime love affair with IrfanView. It is free and with the free plugins it will do anything in the photos above and more. I always have a problem with keeping the horizon horizontal, IrfanView will do rotations as fine as +/- .01 degree quickly. And for previewing large groups of photos and quick resizing and cropping it is perfect. I like it so much I send the developer a little money every few years just in the hopes that he never quits developing it or sells it to M$. IrfanView is perfect for teaching the basics of photo editing to newbies. There is nothing better for that at any price. Jack |

Concerning the comment made by NyTrashMan, I would have to second that. If you look at the edges of the pillars on the castle pics and the rear wheel on the buell pic you can see the chromatic abberations or Blooming affect of the lower quality glass. Good pics for reference of these issues though... Photog 101. |

Alright sorry, I will post them without having to scroll, with the exception of the ones where the detail is so fine where it has to be viewed at large size. I wasn't trying to be rude or aggressive, that is my mistake... it was meant more as a joke. I don't care if you resize, or realign the pictures. I post them so you's can appreciate them, so if you have to resize or whatever to fully do that then by all means go ahead. If you look at the edges of the pillars on the castle pics and the rear wheel on the buell pic you can see the chromatic abberations or Blooming affect of the lower quality glass. I know I don't have an expensive camera... in fact it is very far from it. The majority of the pictures posted were from my Samsung A7, and if they weren't with that they were with my JCV Camcorder. I thought they were pretty damn good for a cheap, ready to use out of the box camera. This isn't an attack... just stating what type of camera was used. |

I don't see the blooming effect, I see sunlight hitting the pillars; the same for the xb. |

Craig, I have the 70-200 f4 Canon lens that I use on a Digital Rebel XT. I am very happy with the lens. It would be nice to have the f2.8, but I just couldn't justify the price difference for what I shoot. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer them. |
