A tree jumped out in front of me. Just kidding,, My leg grinding (no knee pucks, field armor under jeans) got me in trouble. I was leaning left, grinding my left leg. Then the turn's radius got sharper and my jeans gabbed the road harder than they had been doing earlier. It pulled me off the bike. She continued thru the turn with out me. She landed on her left side and slid by killboy. I hope he got some good pix. Drove it back to the gas station. Sliders slide and jeans grab. (Message edited by barker on August 22, 2006) |

Bent but drivable
Good thing I had frame pucks
I have some scratches on the swing arm, but it would have been far worse if I did not have the DHM swingarm sliders.
Notice how I reattached the mirror so I could drive it back to the gas station.

Your bike took the crash really well. You didn't even break your clutch lever. |

Every time I see a crashed XB, I'm amazed that they hold up so well. I'm also amazed that Buell doesn't include the frame pucks as standard equipment on all models!!! |

When I picked my bike up from the ditch I was amazed. These XBs are tuff bikes. You would think the insurance would go down if buell put frame pucks on as standard equipment. I know I when I shop for a bike, insurance cost is a factor. What i'm trying to say Erik, put pucks on all of your bikes and you might sell more. |

Field Armor was not intended to be used to replicate knee sliders. From my experience with jeans they slide just like everything else. Might be time to invest in some real riding gear if your planning on riding that hard. My two piece Alpinestar leather race suit has been worth every bit of the $700 it cost me. ( Plus I've never had to test it, the only thing on the ground are the sliders!) If your going to be out there riding like you stole it, stay smart!

War wounds on your XB, priceless! Happy to hear you weren't hurt. |

The dragon rocks but you gotta dress for it if your gonna ride hard and nothing beats leather. I was at deals gap in June on the BMW dual sport and could not believe how many people were riding two up in shorts and t-shirts. Glad you walked away. Smokescreen, very cool paint job. |

Barker, send me your shift lever, I can fix that, just ask Ras from the DC/MD/VA Storm Front thread. PM me for an address, takes about 5 minutes, just cover shipping. Dan |

Well I guess he did not capture my "crashing skills" It happened just I passed him. Killboy has a thing for buells. Maybe he did not want to show her went she was hurt. Or maybe the Triumph 675 behind me was more interesting. |

I love the helmet. It works perfectly with the ol' Bolt Glad you came out alright. And you have pictures to boot. Add in the fact that you were uninjured & I'd say it wasn't too bad of a day. |
