I forgot to zip the pocket in my jacket. How many of you have done this? |

I've lost my wallet twice and both times it was returned to me intact. Damndest thing... I've found two of them since then (one of them was a police officer's), and made sure they were returned. Maybe you'll get lucky, too. |

I once lost a Pike Pass that belonged to the Human Resources head at work. A month later, her ex-husband who is a cop, gave me a speeding ticket....Coincidence?? |

I used to drive dump trucks as a side-job. I stopped to get fuel and a snack years ago, and my wallet wasn't in my pocket. Sure enough, it was on the floor of the truck, under my seat. I immediately thought about the consequences of it coming out of my pocket while I was on my bike. The next day, I bought a chain wallet with snap closures. It does harken "the H-D look", which I'm not, but it does stay with me. |

I cashed a check once, stuck ten 50-dollar bills and one 100-dollar bill in my zipper pocket, didn't zip it, got to where I was going and there was only the c-note left. I was really upset because I was going to buy a big bag of... donuts... no wait, cookies. Yeah cookies, that's it. |

I did that with a cell phone once. It sucks. Cell phones really don't like hitting asphalt at speed. Losing my wallet would be not such a big deal, since I have yet to change my address on my license and little to no money. |

I've lost quite a few pocket knives that way too, mostly the more expensive clip knives. Never the cheap ones, those I can't seem to lose. Kind of like sunglasses too come to think of it. |

Some lucky dirtbag would have found a cancelled debit card and one dollar. The bad part is my current driver's license was in there. My license number is not my ssn, so I might be ok. The wallet itself, was probably the most valuable thing. It was a Coach wallet that I bought about 10 years ago. Disposible income is a great thing. I miss it. I did that once after getting gas. I narrowed it down to a 5 mile stretch of road. I ran it 3 times but it was dusk when I realized it was gone so I was soon in the dark although I did find the candy bar I bought at the same time. I took a long shot and got there the next morning right after sunrise and I found it in less than 5 minutes lying open but intact right in the middle of the road between the yellow lines. I didn't have much money but replacing the credit cards, IDs, and licenses is such a pain (not the first time I lost a wallet - just a first time I lost it while riding). On the other hand, I found a purse with wallet, over $500 cash and a dozen credit cards in the middle of the road earlier a couple years before and turned it into the local PD so maybe it was karma... |

OK, I stole this from another site--it seems appropriate here: Teen caught speeding 129 mph claims he was 'looking for wallet' 02:16 PM PDT on Monday, August 7, 2006 By ANTONIA GIEDWOYN, kgw.com Staff SEASIDE, Ore. –- A 19-year-old Tigard motorcyclist with only a learner's permit could face a fine of $7,353 after he was caught speeding 129 mph on Highway 26, east of Seaside, police said. Curtis Joseph Rands told the Oregon State Police trooper who stopped him Friday that he was trying to locate his wallet, which he thought he lost along the highway somewhere between Portland and Seaside. He did not explain why -- or how -- he thought such excessive speed would help him locate his wallet. Rands was stopped while riding downhill near the Saddle Mountain junction, said OSP Lt. Duane Stanton. A laser radar showed the speed reading to be 129 mph. The teen was taken into custody for reckless driving and lodged in the Clatsop County Jail. Reckless driving is a class A misdemeanor and can carry a maximum fine of $6,250 and one year in jail, Stanton said. The speeding ticket carries a maximum fine of $1,103. Rands, who only has a motorcycle permit, was riding alone despite being required to ride with a licensed motorcyclist, according to Stanton. In January of this year, a new Oregon law stiffened penalties for drivers cited at speeds 100 mph and faster. A conviction carries a mandatory minimum 30 – 90 day suspension in addition to a $1,103.00 fine. Excessive speed is a factor in half of all traffic fatalities, and it is the only factor in about 30 percent of such crashes, statistics show. |

I haven't lost a wallet since I switched over from leather to hemp. Leather is slick and will readily slide right out of any pocket. Hemp last a good long time too, and in a pinch you can smoke it! jimidan |

I watched my friend do a wheelie in front of me, and saw his phone tumble out of his pocket and hit the ground and it went into about 4 peices. So I stopped and picked it up, at the next light I told him to put out his hand, I and placed the misc peices of phone in his hand, hahaha, he was not to happy. Same kid, I was riding next to him and noticed that he had a key in seat lock, so at the light I reach over and pull it out and hand it to him, and he just put his head down in shame hahaha, I guess it was his spare |

I don't carry a wallet. A small money clip in my front pocket with license, 1 debt card, 1 credit card and insurance card. Once in awhile, I even carry a little cash |

I lost my key once, fell out on the road during an engine-off downhill coasting contest. Two big rigs promptly ran it over grinding it into unusable form. Hotwiring is too easy. |

I lost my wallet last year just before Xmas and had not yet discovered it missing when the cops showed up at my door. The guy who found it called the police to locate me. Imagine my surprise to have the cops at my door at 9pm. "Are you Lee?" "Yes, sir." "Do you ride a black motorcycle?" "N..n...yes, sir." "Did you lose your wallet today." "No, sir. It's right he.......re.." The officer then gave me the name and phone number of the man who found it. I called him and arranged for a pick up. That gentleman was very soon thereafter the proud owner of a shiny new portable navigation device. |

I found a driver's license in Savannah years ago. No wallet, or anything else, just some gal's license lying in the mall parking lot. It was early December, so I sent a Christmas card to the address on the license with the license enclosed. I wrote "Merry Christmas from the Driver's License Fairy. Be more careful."

Isn't that what the seat tailbags are for? carrying cell phones, wallets and house keys? Lord knows, you can't get much more than that in there. I got one just figuring, if I ever (hopefully not) go down again, those items won't get smashed, fall out/off or dig into my body while meeting said pavement. |

I want my phone on my body so that if I can't get back to the bike after a wreck, then I can maybe get into my pocket to call 911. I rode alone a lot, and take long trips by myself. My cell has never gone into my body during one of these events. I have a small folding Samsung which helps I guess. |

I used to ride Dual Sports. My buddy and I were on our way back from the trails one afternoon after stopping at a gas station. He forgot to zip up his tailbag and proceeded to do a good mile long wheelie. He lost everything, wallet, cell phone, house keys, tools, everything in it. It was dusk when we realized what happened. Luckily we were able to find most the wallet, cell and keys. |

You forgot to mention spare parts and hardware to replace the stuff that falls off as you ride. |

On a recent trip to the dragon, my wife's uncle was with me and my father. He was in the back, but after we stopped at the Dragon shop, we took off again and I let him go in front of me. Around a turn, his wallet fell out and cash flew everywhere. He never saw it. I pulled over quickly and walked around retreiving everything that fell out. Lots of bikes slowed to check on me. After 10 minutes him and my father pull up. They immediatly stop and are kinda upset. "What are you doing just sitting here! Are you OK? We were worried to death" They rode back up real slow looking over the embankment, they thought I had wreck and slid off the road. My dad was really worried for me. I held up the wallet and the fistfull of cash and they immediatly shut up. Im sure I did put them through alot of grief, but I couldn't just leave a wallet and a load of cash spread around the road. |

Put my prescription shades on as it was sunny, rode off down the road & lost the normal glasses, went back to look & found the case in 3 pieces, never did find the windows. Fortunately the health insurance covered me. Did exactly the same thing, same pocket, with the remote for the gates at Chateau Grumpy. Now I check my pockets twice before I go anywhere. |
