Yes, Bluzm this is my first daschund (its easier to say weenie). My last dog was a miniature pincher (sp?) named Chester, and a long haired chihuahua named Babu short for Babushka I see some names I already think are cool but its gonna take some convincing the wife in order to get a sprocket or kickstart or torpedo out of this. The deal is she wanta a parti poodle for her birthday in Feb and I said fine Ill get what I want and you can name him and you get what you want and Ill name her. This should be fun, its soooo much easier to come up with a name for someone elses dog. Keep 'em comming ADAM |

Adam I just got a new puppy about 6 weeks he's ago. Hes now 18 weeks old and a joy. I couldn't really name him until I got face to face with him. Although I did have one picked I still had to see him first. He got flown to me from N. Carolina, his name is Raleigh,as in the States capital and his fathers name started with the letter "R" (Ronan). Here he is yesterday in Lake Michigan just went swimming.Take your time on a name it'll come and it'll stick.

What a cutie! Puppies are so irresistible. I agree with BadS1 - watch the personality of the puppy and a name will come to you that fits him. Enjoy and spoil him rotten! |

I love the name STAINS!!!!! reminds me of a boy that passed away that had a dog of that name. I can still here him now calling his dog "come Stains" "come Stains" he would yell out the back door. And every morning his Ma would see Stains on his bed after he was gone. Red Peters!!!!! what a hoot. I personally wanted to name my last dog Dude. I just find that it works so well. "DUDE...... NO" "DUDE..... come here" "Dude...... not on the carpet" "That's a good Dude" Endless........... |

"DUDE...... NO" "DUDE..... come here" "Dude...... not on the carpet" "That's a good Dude" Endless........... VERY NICE!! Along the same vain as another person who wanted to name the dog "you" Kinda like how the Comedian, Stephen Wright said "I have a young dog, I named him stay, it was kind of fun, Come here, stay, come here stay. Now he just ignores me and keeps on typing." |

I've had a couple of friends, both fishermen, who had daschunds as pets. Both dogs had the same problem with the webbing from shrimp nets that seemed to always be in their way, on the back deck, scattered about the docks, etc. They never had the ground clearance to get across it with out getting that fifth leg stuck in it. Always entertaining to watch. (Message edited by captpete on August 09, 2006) |

I ran into a guy down in VA last year who had a Mastiff on a 2" thick rope and a Daschound on a string. The Mastiff was named Tiny and the D-hound....Big Man! I personally had a German Shorthair for the first 17 years of my life, his name was Flea. My Dad names his dogs after Country stars, he's had Willie, Waylon, Dottie(West), Jerry Lee, Cash...... Good luck with the new pups! |
