I've seen a few threads recently mentioning noise output and citations and even possibly getting towed for various violations.

My question is this, who on this board has gotten a ticket for equipment violations and what was the outcome?

Read carefully, I'm not asking what the law is, I just want to know who has actually gotten a ticket for various equipment violations on the bike, not helmets or traffic tickets. Loud pipes, license plates, turn signals, mirrors, etc.

Thanks.

I once wrote a guy an improper display ticket because his plate was sideways.
I usually couldn't care less about stuff like that but the guy was a dick.

I got ticketed for a two brothers pipe on my old CBR. Cop was standing in the road at the top of the rock store waved me over and wrote me.

For what it is worth the way the wording was on how to deal with the ticket at the time I had a choice between sending in $5.00 or changing out the pipe.

I sent in $5.00, never changed the pipe and never heard another word about it.

I didn't actually GET a ticket for it but I got pulled over and spent 20 minutes arguing trying to convince the cop that my exhaust WAS IN FACT from the factory like that.
First thing he asked me was "How long you been riding this bike around with no exhaust"and that he could hear me from 5 blocks away.
I said well it's a good thing I wasn't gettin on it or you'd have heard me from 10 blocks away.
Long story short he went away feeling like a total dumb ass.

I should add that it would help to mention the stated reason for getting pulled over.

I proudly got a loudness ticketed once but cited twice on the ticket - swapped for stock and back took 1/2hr and only paid 10 bucks to get signed off - it was a great day - the mc cop walked around my bike for 1/2 an hour shaking his head and muttering - lol

Skyguy, I would have passed that cop by without a second thought. I ain't pullin over just because some guy in a costume was waving at me. Did he somehow measure the sound coming from your bike?

Seth, thanks for the input, thats the concise factual evidence I'm looking for. You pulled him over for something, he acted the fool and so got a ticket for the plate.

Then, bend it back as soon as I stop again..

Pwnzor, I wanted to go by but after getting nailed and railroaded for eluding once I decided against it.

Everyone knew she was up there so I took every turn up at the speed limit and she said she heard me coming. She was just on a hassle the bikers trip.

How about the light for the license plate? Mine's blowing fuses at the moment so it's disconnected. Will it get me a ticket?

I was pulled over and threatened with a ticket for aftermarket exhaust twice on palomar mountain.

The Yoshimura pipe did not have the "race only" stamps so they did not give me a citation either time.

Good thing they didn't notice your shift lever missing! Let's see them make up a law for that one.

Gee... we can't see a half naked female on this site because it is a family site. But we can avocate fleeing and eluding the police.... Nice......

Paintshaker, No one advocates eluding. I think Pwnzor may be right in that a CHP can not nail you for eluding while riding unless they get in a car and stop you with lights flashing.

One could always say "I could not tell it was an officer I just came around the corner and saw some nut standing in the road so I went around". One could also say that they were focused on the road and simply could not tell it was an LEO.

This of course is an argument you will likely be making in front of a judge after a long weekend of protecting your virginity................. Cause ya know that is going to be one pissed off LEO.

I own a felony record because of riding at "speeds in excess of 150mph" This was in 93 and while I deserved a huge ticket I did not elude. I stopped when I noticed.

Run at asshat speeds on a public highway and you may get more than you deserve..............................

I still had a shift lever then, this was several years ago.

Who was evading? I missed that.

The KC cops like to pull us over for various plate issues....too far under the tail, bent the wrong way from too many wheelies, and no light....but they generally just run our license and give us a warning...

sorry Diablo, I thought I was being clever.

I wasn't advocating evasion or anything like it. Unless there is a physical, clearly delineated barricade or a vehicle with flashing lights, I ain't pullin over.

Now back on track. What other equipment violations have people received, and the details surrounding it.

3 YES COUNT EM 3! Wheelies in plain view of an officer that EVERYONE I was riding with saw except me.
He didn't think it was quite as funny as I did when I replied "failure to signal?",when he asked if I knew why he was pulling me over.

It was pointed out to me that my tail light wasn't functioning, but no violation.

My plate is bent up WAY high, as in almost horizontal, and Polizei have yet to say anything (they have been behind me).

Sorry, don't have any REAL equipment Violations.
