Weird... that's the only word for it.Tube amps are all the rage with those who actually have a full range of hearing (checked out of THAT category decades ago). But this is plain silly:

Audio research offers their VM220 Monoblock Tube Amplifier (220 watt) for a mere $9,990 a pair.

Reminds of when "mag" wheels hit the motorcycle market: You paid a dear premium for them. Now you pay through the breathing orifi for wire jobs.

Yep it IS sposed to be green -- the dye worn out about three days after St Pattie's day -- xost cutting, doncha know

it's the Chicago Tall Ship Celebration -- now these are all Great Lake vessesls, and the Great Lakes DO contain 20% of the planet's fresh water, still, our "Tall Ships" ain't the Constitution nor the Cutty Sark . . . . . a more accurate apleation might me "Chicago's Not-Short-Ship Celebration"

Thang -- they got a repro of John Paul Jones' ship here, flying the "Don't Give Up the Ship" flag (uttered during a battle on the, wait for it, Great Lakes, I beleive -- I figgered a someone what was once a mariner might dig the pic)

Since Buellgirl is a Buell owner like us and a member on this site shouldn`t we be trying to help her with her situation?

Yes and it did start out that way, there have been offers of help, for instance:

Bomber's offer:

Buellgrrrl -- trailer your MaDuece to the Entropy Lab (far northern suburbs of the City of Big Shoulders), and we'll get it right within a weekend of sourcing all the needed parts.

all the needed parts can be in the Entropy Lab with 4 working days (DaveS has sometimes gotten stuff delivered seemingly before I hung up from ordering them).

deal?

Court's offer:

By the way . . . Bomber, if she gets the bike to the lab, I'll step in and make sure the parts appear pronto.

Buellgrrrl's response:

Bomber, thanks for the offer- the bike is running now thought the speedo has now gone from intermittent to totally dead.

Bomber's counter offer:

Buellgrrl -- well, the offer's open, if and when -- there's a number of preventative part replacement activities that can be carried out that will go a long way toward making sure your too short riding season isn't interrupted

If you read the archives you'll see others have offered help as well, it's what Buell riders do, even for folks they don't know !!

It's at that point you begin to believe, rightly or wrongly, that help isn't what she was looking for ??

Reg,

Not only have the amps gotten unbelievably esoteric, but the tubes themselves. NOS tubes are like gold now; current tubes come from Russia and China (who kept tube technology long after we threw it away). You can find pages of discussion on the net about which 12AX7 preamp tube sounds best in which guitar amp, not to mention the myriad of home audio tubes and applications out there.

There is an old dude that has a little stereo shop in Long Beach, CA. He got me my last set of tubes and put a new belt in my phonograph as well as a "new" gear in my Akai 1721W. When he dies, I do not know where I do not know where I will go. Strange, my apostrophe key now opens menus I have never seen before. I will switch to not using contractions until it gets sorted out. Everything in long form until I reboot I guess.

I read the offers for helping Buellgirl and sounded very sincere. But after that it seemed like when she continued to speak about her problems she was attacked.

So i doesn`t look like this is as a friendly place as you say it is.

this joint CAN get a bit harsh, no doubt about it

said harshness is not always deserved, agreed

the obvious comparisons to other electronic communities (no doubt incoming as we speak) have nothing to do with it

so much happens in our lives every day that we cannot control -- what we can control is our reactions to what happens

anyways -- ride safe!

It is... She's just not accepting offers. She's already pissed us off. She doesn't have a clean slate any longer and it's not just this thread.

See, there's no point in SPEAKING about your problems. They need to be discussed and then solved. She doesn't quite seem willing to do this and we've pretty well decided that she adopted this attitude because... well... she likes to bitch.

That's her choice. Not ours. Those offers of help are certainly still on the table and THAT is really the only thing that matters. She still continues to bitch instead of take advantage of the offers that have been presented to her.

Moving on now ;).

Never said it was a "friendly" place, you ask shouldn't we offer her help. I pointed out it was offered, and declined.

I appreciate any help, friendly or not, but then again I'm kind of a mean person !!

You're welcome to your opinion, as is everyone here. I'd like to repeat my welcome to you, and invite you to read through some of the other message boards, maybe find some people in your area to hook up with. There are BadWebbers all over the world, and quite a few in New York.

The whole "friendly place" thing is perhaps a bit of a toss.

I've invested a great deal of time and effort traveling all over the United States to help Buell owners. Ask about 2 dozen folks here how we met.

My "gettin' off point" is when cordialy and sincere offers are rebuked with smart aleck nasty replies. I've become convinced, through the years, that like crack and booze, some folks are irrevocably addcited to pain and suffering and go to any lengths to make whatever situation they are in suck.

Just an observation.

Again....I can handle anybody with a broeken Buell. I have little tolerance for a person with no manners.

If this gal were my kid I'd ground her. Trust me, she's miserable now. Revisit her situation in a year and I suspect you'll find it unchanged.

This thread supports my theory that some folks are always miserable, because no matter where they go they always take themselves with them.

This person just wants the attention she gets by irrationally complaining.

Don't feed the trolls.

Well Court and company, I was going to ask for some mechanical type advice on keeping my Buell alive... but you seem more in a mood to trash me so I won't bother you. If you change your mind and want to be helpful let me know and I'll post the questions.

Miserable or not, I'd fix a Buell for just about anyone. I'd maybe make them promise to not complain.

That said... People who go to emergency rooms for free and get less than perfect treatment can sue... Maybe it's not such a good idea : ).

I had offered to help as best I could.

I also attempted to sort out what kind of positive action could be taken.

I tried to work with her and find the value in keeping a bike that you are miserable with for another 4 years, which
is her time-line she insists she must own the M2 for.

What I found is that she is not interested in having the bike fixed. She wants to be miserable with HDI.

Her claims of "weeks at the dealership" for stator repair was found to be fraudulent.
It turned out to be 4 working days. With her not picking it up for a couple more.

Like most people on here I will try my best to help ANYONE that tries ***In Good Faith*** to be part of the solution.

I detest offering the olive branch and getting smacked with it.

As far as physical limitations go, I'm sure that it's a lot easier for her to get around than it is for me,
But I wake up each day with a positive attitude, and an upbeat outlook.

I'm not looking for excuses to be upset, or angry. I simply cannot live that way.
I set goals, and pursue them with a tenacity that would make any bulldog jealous.

Ummmm Buellgrrrl you haven't asked any questions on any of the threads about fixing Buells.

Not once. Why are you trying to act like we are deterring you from continuing something you've never done?

I tried to refrain from this post....................
But she sounds just like my ex-wife.
My advice to her is make the best of a bad situation not the worst! She could have learned about the bike & it's minor downfalls & risin up & fixed it herself with the help of friends from this board.......instead of scoffing at the help & advice!
I'm done!

I have to whole heartedly agree with Tramp's statement. Some of the things I have read are just far too improbable to be plausible, and so I pretty much take it all with many grains of salt. I personally find it entertaining most of the time. Wit is a tool that needs sharpening constantly, and what better to sharpen against than something dull like a post or a strop?

Sometimes I surprise even myself.

Char,
Do you mean Dyna instead of Dana. Dana in Milwaukee has been a very gracious host (the 2000 unofficial Homecoming comes to mind) and a great contributor to this board. I've had my run-ins with the other.

Dyna has too much class to pretend to be a dizzy, whining airhead BMW lover. He loves stirring the pot, and may have to result in using an alias to get around being banned, but he won't fabricate lies to prove his point.
Dana also wouldn't pull such crap.
I saw how much both contributed to the 20th Anniversary, and I consider both to be my friends. I'm a choosy bastard when it comes to who I pick as friends.
I have to agree with Tramp's assessment of the troll.
