Holy crap.....did you see it ? First ever double back flip was done perfectly tonight at the X Games by Travis Pastrana . Needless to say he won the gold medal in best trick competition. How much farther can these moto-x freestyle guys go...... |

Beats me. When I was whompin' around the dirt hills 25 years ago, only the very best riders (which did not include me) could lay the bike over in a TableTop and bring it back before landing. The stuff these X-Gamers pull off is absolutely astounding. Who knows what they'll be able to do in another decade or two. |

I don't believe that was the first double back flip but still awesome! |

That's crazy. The first double backflip landed in competition in BMX was done by Dave Mirra at the CFB competition in Raliegh, NC (that skatepark is no longer around). He did it again later that year in the X-Games. That was only 6 years ago. Those Motorcross guys are progressing fast. |

I don't believe that was the first double back flip but still awesome! Pastrana is the only one to ever do a double back flip ( and land it on a motorcycle). He completed it one other time for his video but he landed it in sand. He has big ones |

I remember last year when he was practicing the double back flip in his foam pit but was not ready to try it in competition so last night I called the buds to make they were watching. Travis pulled one before on loose soil but this was the first by anyone in competition. Perfectly executed. His poor mother must be a nervous wreck! |

I watched a motocross kid do two back flips only last Sunday. I wondered how he trained for such. Amazing to see. Looks almost as if executed in slow motion. Rocket |

I've seen 10 year old kids doing backflips on dirtbikes. It's commonplace any more... double back flips are the new frontier, the ramps will get higher and longer and farther apart and maybe we'll get to see triples next year.

How about the French guy who almost pulled a heart attack/ flip combo?? The roatation of the bike stalled (upside down, with the rider dangling perpendicular, holding the seat and the handle bar). The rider was able to get back on the bike and continue the roatation, but just missed getting the full rotation landing on the front tire and crashing... Crazy.... |

Yeah Paint_shaker, that was the second best trick I've ever seen...next to that double back flip. |

I want to know why he didn't get a perfect 100 for that. They said he got like a 98.6 or something like that. I'd like to see the judge that didn't give him 100 do that trick. I didn't see one thing wrong with that trick from takeoff to landing. Shit, I bet if he knew he was going to land that smooth he would have landed no handed. Awsome in my opinion. |

Was that the announcer saying "oh sh1t" or was it the guy filming the TV?

So I show my 16 year old son that video and he asks, has anyone done a front flip? Thinking my lad's talking daft I obviously tell him it's not possible, and left it at that. Today I'm talking with my 14 year old nephew, and he's reading a BMX magazine, so I tell him about me showing Harley the double back flip video last night. My nephew asks, has a front flip been done? Ok, I'm the daft one it turns out. Harley, and now Ben both tell me that front flips are old news on BMX bikes. Sooooo, the question is "has anyone done a front flip, single or double, on a motorcycle?" Rocket |

One of the former BMX announcers for the X-games pretty much only did front flips and 360 back flips. That was pretty much all he had in his bag. I don't remember his name, and I am too lazy to look it up. |

i do believe the front flip will be next!! i said that to my wife right after the double. I dont ever see a triple just b/c of the height needed to do this! Unless, they are going off a clif with a chute again!! Another thing is they have to get the 360 perfected first. Nobody can really nail it YET!! That vidoe of Pastrana doing the double at his house was for the magazine FHM!! It was a good article. I believe he sais he was like 60 feet in the air!! |

WOW, can't wait to see how a front flip pans out. Should I order 50 tons of sand or do you think I'm to old and fat at 45 to even bother trying, lol? Rocket |
