Well vacation time's here so we packed the car & headed south to the sun & the beach. A long drive to a mobile home on a 3* campsite. I was feeling a bit wasted with a bit of a gutsache after the driving so on sunday we had a lazy day just swimming in the warm sea & lying around. Sunday evening felt progressively worse & went to see a quack who said it was a gastro. Monday after no sleep felt worse than ever so the mrs drove me to the ER.... I've just got out minus an appendix. Don't think I'll be forgetting this vacation in a hurry! |

Ouch, like they said, what a way to spend your vacation. Good job getting to the ER. Appendicitis can be life threatening, so things could have gone much much worse. Trust me peritonitis is no picnic. My intestines got perforated when my pelvis shattered. UGH Not a good time. |

be glad you got to the er when you did.. when i was 10 i had mine out. waited a while to go as my parents thought it was a belly ake(sp?). in the middle of the night they heard me crying in pain, brought me to the er and within minutes i was on my way to the operating room. my appendix had burst when on the table, they ended up having to leave the stitches somewhat open to let the poison drain. worst pain i have ever felt. although the nurses were really cute and waited on me lots.i was in there about a weeks time. |

Mr.Grumpy, heal well. Glad you found a quack first, otherwise you had an healthy appendix cut out for nothing. Sorry if I made you laugh. Amazing that you are sitting already behind your screen. All the best. Hans |

Got home to Chez Grumpy, early this morning. Feeling much better but won't be riding for a few weeks yet. Many thanks to you all for your best wishes. We managed to salvage the last day all together on Friday, it was too windy for the beach & I couldn't go in the water anyway, so we took off into the Pyrenees to visit Andorra, which is a tiny country about 25 miles across. It's a tax free zone so we did some shopping, but the roads... Oh man. Imagine, if you can, main roads that are about 80% as technical as the Dragon & run thru villages & mountains for a hundred miles or more, with good surfaces, & biker friendly/aware drivers. You can bet I'll be going back with the M2! |

I spent several weeks paragliding in the French and swiss Alps. There are few places in the world that can compare to that scenery. The roads in the Alps and pyrnees are without equal. oh and the cops are not at war with the citizens so it is a great place to ride. I had to watch others though as I was on a paragliding trip. Glad the appendix came out easily! If you want to hear a horror story I know someone that had an emergency apendectomy in rural China.................... Bare light bulb, no masks or operating room and accupuncture for anesthesia. |

Bit of a scare yesterday the wound started pissing watery blood so off to the local hospital to get sorted, they opened it up & drained it, & I have to have it re-dressed every 2 days. Plus now I've got to do NOTHING AT ALL it's so frustrating, I've got a list of jobs as long as my arm & friends of the wife arriving to stay this afternoon. No Escape. I'll plead fatigue & retire to bed with a book. |
