As a Jew and as a previous fan of Mel Gibson, I was personally disgusted in the remarks Mel Gibson allegedly spouted during his recent DUI arrest...I was not insulted by The Passion of the Christ, and didn't let his fathers bad press sway my own opinion of Mel. But really, how many people start blaming Jews for all the wars in the world just because they are drunk..True showing of who he is? or just a misunderstanding?

You'd be amazed by some of the idiotic crap that people do and say during an OUI stop.

That Mel Gibson makes it to debate when there are so many things happening that are much more important is freaking STUPID!!!

Hey Larry, I was thinking the same thing. I'm getting sick of knowing about actors personal lives. It almost makes me want to get rid of some of my DVDs!

We should send Mel an email and ask how the Crusades were our fault!

Sky, thanks for the PM, and unfortunately people do listen and care what the Hollywood dweebs do and say, and by making it public will hopefully hurt them in the only place you can...their wallet....

Your right there is a lot of important stuff going on in the world today, but a Hollywood star spouting anti-Semitic comments is relevant to some...

The last person to get into a debate about politics and religion with is a police officer trying to arrest you for being drunk.

Sports, sure... religion and politics, no.

Everyone in Holly weird is a gay potsmoker and no credence should be given to anything they say.
C'mon people. He's a friggin actor. It's not like he's important or anything...I mean other than the fact that he acted in my most favourite training film.

The CNN article didn't report what he allegedly said. People are so overly sensitive nowdays, you just don't know for sure unless you actually HEAR them say what they said with your own ears and within the context it was said.

People assign too much importance to the personal lives of people that make their living pretending to be someone else.

There have even been actors testifying before congress based on no other credential than their celebrity status.

As a guy who has been drunk a time or two myself, I think drunks say some stupid stuff.

Gibson cowboy'd up and apologized before the content of the original report was made public. I have a lot of respect for that, and wont hold his poorly chosen drunken remarks against him.

Gibson seems like a pretty decent guy. AFAIK, he hasn't used his celebrity status to spout his political views. He did chose to use his own money to make a movie that he considered very important, and I think that says a lot for him.

It does seem just a little bit like the press is going out of their way to try to find something to make him look bad.

"It does seem just a little bit like the press is going out of their way to try to find something to make him look bad."

Without a doubt, however I have said some dumb things while drunk, but I can guarantee they were not racial slurs or bigoted remarks...I can find way more important reasons not to like people other than their race or religion.

Kccyclone,

As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, I am fond of Jews and know their place in God's economy. They are the apple of God's eye and one day they will be the gathering point for all who wish to see God. The Bible teaches that Gentile believers are a wild olive branch which has been grafted into the natural vine. This is a picture of the Gentile priveledge and access to God since the cross of Christ, but the promises were originally to the Jews.

Having said all that: The man has a right to believe whatever he wants and the right to speak freely (even if drunk) his mind. I think people should stop persecuting him. The Hollywood harlots can finally get revenge of this imperfect man who claims to love Christ.

I chose not to see the Passion of Christ and I am not a fan of either Gibson's theology.

lol Kc!

"I was personally disgusted in the remarks Mel Gibson allegedly spouted during his recent DUI arrest..."

I'm glad you used the word "allegedly" because I have been watching this story unwillingly for days now, and haven't seen ANY evidence of what was actually said. I can tell you from personal experience that cops exaggerate, especially if they have an opinion about whoever they are arresting.

Personally, I predicted long ago that if Mel ever got in trouble he would be dissected in the media.

According to the report, in addition to threatening the arresting deputy and trying to escape, Gibson said, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and asked the officer, James Mee, "Are you a Jew?"

Sounds concocted. I'd like to see or hear some tape of that. I won't believe it until it's proven. He-said she-said is not enough for me, nor should it be for any judge.

I'm fed-up with 'celebrities' in the news. Whether actors, musicians, athletes or whatever(Paris Hilton's category). To much press is given to those bozo's ,who havent a clue about the real world.
