I know, I know, it's a Buell forum...but since a lot of Buellers have BMW's, I thought I'd see if anybody was planning on coming up to the BMW rally the 20th - 22nd?

I live around the corner from the rally site and will be there (the wife rides the Beemer). If anybody's coming up, we should get together...

For those wondering, it's being hosted in Essex Junction, Vermont...

And those BMW "whiners" even have the social skills to put on rallies, and pretty damn good ones at that. Will we ever manage to put on a real rally without BRAG/HOGs's intervention?

whaddaya mean 'we', buellgurgle?....
i attend much bigger and better rallies than anything the whiner's group, hog or brag put on.
plus- go easy on brag and the various indie buell clubs (ATC, etc.) they're a young group. haven't been around as long as the whiner's group.
are you like this on the bmw websites?

Wow . . . . you have the most acerbic and nasty disposition.

There have been some wonderfully successful major Buell rallies that that B.R.A.G./H.O.G. didn't even know about.

I've been attending Buell events since 14 years before Mile Hilman coined the term B.R.A.G.

They've all been wildly succcessful and I value the wonderful friends I've met. We're having a houseful of Euopean and Australian riders for Christmas this year, all of whom I meant throgh Buell rallies.

None have been to any of the DeadHorse rallies...now those are usually a riot! Lawnchair races (yes, bikes towing lawnchairs with a person on it - who can stay on the longest???) and such...

Now, to get back on the subject, who's coming up???

Well, I'm tempted, I wimped out on the sidecar rally in AR this weekend due to the forecast 100+ degree heat indexes... so another rally is tempting. The BMW rally is a bargain, $35 for 4 days with 3 nights camping, tech sessions, etc.. But it's 1300 miles from Minneapolis! I'll probably ride the Buell (50 mpg vs. 30 mpg for my BMW w/sidehack) if I go but hang around the airheads encampment.

Tramp, ain't Burlington, VT right close to you? Here's your chance to be disrespectful and get even with all those BMW 'whiners"...

You wouldn't be the only Buell there.

Who says calling them "whiners" is being disrespectful? I hang with a bunch of beemer folk and say the same thing about them.

Yet wasn't it a BMW rider that helped a Bueller out when he was stuck on the side of the road? He even got out his stove and whipped up a latte for him. I remember the post a few months back...

Calling them "whiners" is typically more poking fun in jest than anything else.

Tramp, if you swing up, we're having a drink.

Sounds like a good run, I wish I could do it, would like to get out of Arizona for a couple weeks this time of year. Ti Ming (you know who he is) ruins so much fun for everyone.

It would be fun to see some early BMeer's.

There's some good grand prizes, including three bikes:

1985 BMW R80S

1977 BMW R100RS Café Racer restored by Doug Morrison

new BMW R1200GS Adventure or a new BMW K1200GT – new bike equipped with panniers, a tankbag and other accessories, which were donated by BMW Motorrad.

Oh, and Lester is giving away a 1985 BMW K100RS, so I guess that makes four bikes.

buellgrrl screeched:

"Tramp, ain't Burlington, VT right close to you? Here's your chance to be disrespectful and get even with all those BMW 'whiners"..."

Why would I go out of my way to waste a weekend bench-racing with the same nutjobs I had to deal with as service customers?

Honestly, outside of this and two other boards, I don't "talk" motorcycles much, at all, esp. tech.
Been kinda burned-out on it for along time.
When I can help someone out, I will, and when I can turn an honest buck with my wrench, I do.
I have never enjoyed tech-talk regarding motorcycles, and bmw rallies tend to have the highest ratio of "techxperts who have never picked up a wrench" to actual "mechanics"
I imagine you know the type.

anyway, I'm supposed to be out west, watching a race.
I find this to be far more fun than bench-racing, as they go really fast, it's very loud.

(including a French Press)to keep himself well fed on the road.

Oh yea,86'R80 w/S faring.For sale.No I won't make the rally.

I'm no pro chef, I have no bags on my buell, and I carry a Ka-Bar and a book of matches, in case I wanna carve a ham or backstraps off a roadkilled deer and then cook that bad boy up over a campfire....

I'll be there, but I'll be leaving the Lightning Long home and taking the K1200LT instead. I still remember seeing Court's funky Thunderbolt at the Morganton Rally in North Carolina. Never did find Court, though.

I'm in the RAN but for any BadWeb'r that'll be around, if you need anything, give a call 802-233-5329.

Stou, is the GS painted up at all???

No Crusin, it's a new '06 GS. My BMW dealer is also a Yamaha dealer. They give me a good price for my '01 FZ1 and they also made me a good price for this '06 GS they had in stock.

I also checked for a XB12SX but the deal for me was a lot better on the GS.

Here's my GS at mount Washington last week.

Well, I had a GREAT time, but the weather SUCKED. Exact opposite of the prediction I saw Thursday morning (which said "Rain Friday, Sunny and beautiful Saturday and Sunday"). Damn I wish I could get a job that allows me to be that wrong that often and STILL get paid!

Next year's rally will be in Wisconsin, but I didn't hear WHERE in Wisconsin. Not Milwaukee. Somewhere near East Troy, perhaps?

It was a good time, Thursday was excellent, Friday we didn't have rain at the rally...Saturday it rained from mid-day until we rode home at 11pm.

Good friends, inexpensive beer, and decent music...who could ask for more?

It's north of Milwaukee...
