For once? I've got some pretty impressive, including the "Best Handling" reviews going back to 1987. |

Maybe Nasty hasn't been keeping up with current events, but article's like this one have been the norm for all XB models since their inception. The press loves these bikes! I have a January 1991 "Motor Cyclist" mag that has a red Buell RS1200 Westwind on the cover, with the caption, "Cutting Edge...New Buell RS1200: Inverted Fork, Six-Piston Brake" and "Exotica American Style" as the article header. Buell is STILL producing cutting edge bikes that are Exotica American Style...after all these years. Jimidan |

What cracks me up is the big call for more power - when the XB first came out it took the track record from the 600cc superbike that was currently holding the best track time and it did it with over 30 hp less - I always say - you don't need more power, just become a better rider;0) - although power is always nice - lol GT - JBOTDS! Ed, Which track, which riders, which bike are you talking about? I don't recall a XB ever beating a 600cc bike anywhere in national competition. |

Jim - it happened on the Toledo Spain track - in the XB9R 2002 opening debute press release - Road Racing World - was one of the first to comment on that fact - I'm sure somebody saved the article - thats what made me decide that a 9 was fast enough for me - lol - it beat the record timewise - no competition involved - still that was enough for me;0) GT - JBOTDS! When skill is equal power wins. This is a simple fact of life. I bet that Jeremy could have had a top 5 or better finish on one of the factory 600's. Not to take anything away from Buells effort as it is truly impressive. |

One comment on the 9 vs the 12. The 9 motor to me is smoother and I do not find myself looking at the tach at upper rpm ranges for the fuel cut off. A 9 motor with the race kit is within 5 hp of an equally equipped 12. If I were going to get a Firebolt, I would want the 9, though I love the new Black w/Red 07 XB12R paint scheme. |

Skyguy, Only 3 places behind where he would have finished on a Japanese factory FX 600 says it all. Those guys have been testing everyweek, and have tons of time on the bikes. So Jeremy's finish is pretty darned good from a little company that can afford very little testing. It's unfortunate they had problems in qualifying, as I am sure he would have finished better had he qualified with the times he was running in practice. I wish more folks could celebrate this instead of complaining that there isn't enough money being spent. I'm betting there isn't any money to spend! |

"When skill is equal power wins." Remember also, "setup", "handling" "traction" "support" and "experience". There is a LOT more to getting around a racetrack quickly than just acceleration performance. Going from 14th to 8th is a darn good run in any race. Valentino similarly went from 10th to 5th before his Yamaha died at Laguna near the end of the race. You expect better in less laps from Jeremy McWilliams and the Buell/Warrs team? |
