My dealer informed me that the "factory race kit" for my '06 XB12 is now listed as obsolete, but they can still get one. I'm wondering if anyone knows just why it is now obsolete, and if the kits indeed give better performance. Thanks, group. I've only had my Buell for a couple of months but LOVE it! |

It is obsolete and you can't order one from the factory anymore(believe me I have tried,oh how I have tried) They may be able to get one from another dealer? I can't imagine anyone having one at this point in time but you never know. The race kit is a great value. Good performance Good sound Affordable, bang for the buck They list for 654.95 for your bike |

They're discontinuing the race kit. Not sure if that means they're not going to sell any of the three components or if they are just going to sell them individually, not as a kit...? It's a real kick in the pants, you won't regret having it. I've had mine for almost 20,000 trouble-free miles and the difference is like night and day. |

Obsolete due to EPA cracking down on "race only" exhaust and Harley NOT wanting to not piss them off. As far as the race kit itself, I have one on my 04 XB12R and I love it. Great sound, performance and its a factory kit (which is huge to me).... Did I mention great sound? If you can get your hands on one, I would scoop it up fo sho! I got one stashed away for a special someone myself! |

Thanks for the info! Perhaps it was some EPA thing that caused Buell to quit making the kits. Pwnzor, your 20K miles are enough to prove that the bikes are still reliable after the installation of the kit. My dealer has located a few in Florida, so I'm pretty sure I'm going for it. |

If anything, I would say the bike is now more reliable for several reasons: a) electric servo motor *gone* (1 less thing to break) b) the cable from the servo to the exhaust valve *gone* (cables all need to be replaced sometime) c) ECM has one less function to handle, uses less power. d) the valve in the exhaust itself is another component which could potentially fail at some point. *gone* e) the new exhaust is a lot lighter than the stock unit, so less wear and tear on brakes and suspension I could probably think of more, but you get the idea. If you can aquire it, do so immediately. Join the ranks of the unwashed, enemies of the EPA!!! hahahah |

Thanks, Pwnzor! I ordered one from St. Paul H-D. They have several in stock. Screw the EPA!!! And really, I appreciate all the information. |

Xbdude, Be aware that the extended warranty I bought for my bike from Harley will not fix anything that they deem related to the race kit (The race kit and anything in the engine they deem could have been damaged by the race kit) So if you install one know that the warranty is almost useless. |

They are still selling the filter and ecm, just not the muffler or whole kit |

Old_man is right, technically the warranty is void with the race kit. But most dealers won't give you a problem with it. Even the dealers I have personaly ranted about on these message boards never denied me service within the original factory warranty. Personally, I don't buy extended warranties. I'm not saying "don't buy one", but do be aware that the original factory warranty and the extended warranty are different. |

Thanks, Old man. I do not have the extended warranty from H-D, though. My dealer is very good, and they said if they install it, the regular warranty will not be affected. I'm hoping so! The positive feedback from those of you who have installed the kit is amazing. |

Hey guys.... will 82004-03Y (Factory Race Kit) work on a Uly? I read one description of it that explicitly said: "Will NOT work on XB12x".... Why or why not? Thanks in advance! |
