Call me selfish but I kinda hope the world ends in my lifetime. I dont mind dying, I just want to go out knowing that I ain't gonna miss out on anything. Then again I don't have kids. |

China is in this up to their neck. Why do you think oil is expensive? China has near doubled world usage, Actually, China's thirst for manufacturing, and development, is what is driving the worlds upsurge in economy. The oil and shipping industry is enjoying a massive high, the likes the world has not seen for years, due to China's march into the 'modern' world. If anyone is worried about the 'enemy within', Russia will once again become the super power it was once before. The Russian's have massive oil reserves. The irony is, British Petroleum was so pissed off with the British governments massive taxation on North Sea oil, BP pulled out. Yep, they looked to Russia afterwards, and what a success story that's become. BP declared profits of around 30 billion, give or take, for the past year. That's second only to Exxon. Now the North Sea is the territory of smaller independent oil companies, all thriving, and paying less tax to the British government due to their lesser financial status. It's a crazy world. Especially when you consider the Americans sank the Kursk. Rocket |

Hopefully, China will eliminate itself from the competition. China has never really been able to feed its population. Since they got on an industrialization roll, they are showing a steady decrease in losses of crop land and native fishing resources to industry-related pollution of water sources, and loss of ground cover essential to healthy crop lands to de-forestation. There are myriad related issues that they are ignoring and denying. They are going to turn their nation into a toxic nightmare almost incapable of sustaining life. The power structure will eventually start fighting among themselves (and only themselves hopefully) and they will collapse. I just hope that, like the Soviet Union, they don't take us or too much of the world with them. Jack |

"they are showing a steady decrease in losses" I think there's a typo in there somewhere as a decrease in losses would be a potential net gain. In fact I always work on decreasing my losses, maybe someday I'll be able to increase my gains should I ever have any. In any case, carry on...... |

those folks been feuding since the bible days. They just have better weapons now! ...and since before then too. I'm currently reading The History of the Middle East - The Past 3000 Years. I constantly find it amazing as to the lengths people will go in order to intolerantly impose their religious views on others. IMHO, there is some characteristics of their culture/religion/whatveryouwanttocallit them seems to render them incapable of two vitally important concepts for peace to take root: 1) Live and let live. 2) Forgiveness.
