Interesting. Street legal, bracket racer, or just a toy? |

It would be interesting to make a street legal car with a Twin Cam motor in it! Something like a small Miata with all light weight/carbon fiber panels, 'Ay ? ...... Or something? |

A legends car would be fun too...
http://www.nevadaracing.com/fslgds.html These things are the reason it's hard to find a nice fj1100/1200 any more. |

Diablobrian, Legend car motors do not come from FJ's. They are made by Yamaha for the Legends organization. The motors are sealed. They can only be serviced by certified Legend mechanics. The local Ducati shop near me works on the Legend cars. |

Interesting. Street legal, bracket racer, or just a toy? It was registered and tagged. No one was around when we strolled by so I couldn't ask any questions. It come by way of a trailer though, so I'm not so sure if it actually gets driven much. Now I have seen a couple of street legal Legends cars running around down south. Don't see why not? Plenty of power and plenty safe. The last stock car I built for myself, I really considered leaving it titled and tagged and just drive it to the track with a small trailer in tow to carry the race tires and tool like the sports car guys do. Chickened out and just bought a real trailer and towed it behind my Dakota R/T

Ok, that's a change from when they were building them 6-7 years ago. One of the guys in the shop I was working in built one to race in the local series in San Diego. He bought an FJ and used the motor. He never ran really competetively, being a shoestring operation, but I did go help him and the guys were running air-oil gsxr1100 and FJ motors in all of the cars in the field. The big money guys had some fancy set-ups and suspension. They spent a lot of money to win those trophies. Kind of like the way most racing organizations work. They were racing out on the indian reservation east of San Diego. Short track dirt oval. Fun stuff. |

Those legend cars are ridiculous! Looks like fun to me. What's to ridicule? Wonder if you could make one street legal - with maybe a little H-D torque? Make 'em look and sound good. I wonder how a 6'1" 65-year-old gets in and out of one? Never mind, I know... with a crane. |

"Those legend cars are ridiculous!" "Looks like fun to me. What's to ridicule?" He means they are cool, new-ish slang. |

Thanks, Brian. My generation seems to be a little gapped. Very small price to pay for the ride I've had. Which, btw, isn't nearly as lengthy as my easily-entertained young friend, Chase, seems to believe. And probably not as sedate, either. I envy ya, kid. You got the world by the tail. Don't waste it... it won't last forever. (Along with all that other crap older folks are always tellin' you.) |

My neighbor right behind me races a Legend car. The did start off using the FJ 1100 motors until they were no longer available. Now as mentioned above, they are the same type motor but they are sealed. Chassis setup is critical on these buggers. Racing is very close quarter, lots of bumping. The chassis gets tweeked all the time and has to be reset up frequently. Each track requires a different set up just like NASCAR. The fast guys have a 4 wheel scale to set corner bias and loading. The cars have LOTS of suspension and chassis adjustments. Very cool... Brad |

No, they are ridiculous. There's a stunt guy in the UK who has one. His party piece is to doughnut the thing whilst he climbs out on the roof and waves at the crowd. Firstly, a line lock is used on one front brake. The steering is placed into full lock and the throttle is worked so as the car spins, making doughnuts. The throttle is set whilst the car is doughnutting, then the fella climbs onto the roof and blows kisses. That is a real clever and skilled trick, NOT. I'd enjoy the stunt a lot more if he fell off the roof and the car got away. That would be a laugh watching him trying to get back into a moving vehicle! Secondly, someone out to tell the fella how stupid a car looks in any sort of motion when there's no one driving. Thirdly, I like small cars, but those things are just pesky little noise makers. Legends cars are an easy, relatively cheap way to go racing, and thousands have been sold. Yeah, that sounds pretty ridiculous... |

Awe c'mon man. They're stupid little things at best. There's any number of cars to go racing in but those things don't even look spectacular to watch. I tell you what it is when I think about it. They don't look like they're in scale. It's like playing Scalextric when someone comes along with a Matchbox car. Get in scale baby! when i grow up i want to be a grumpy old man just like rocket I was only having a crack with the Capt. Now I'm crying in my soup. Am I really that grumpy............and old Rocket |

on a short track the legends are actually pretty fun to watch and are a real blast to drive given the power to weight ratio. Rocket if the guy in the UK actually competed in a race instead of doing dumb stunts you might get it. They are low buck(way cheaper than sprint cars) cheap fun and a blast to drive. |

To what does the word "becoming" refer? If you mean are you becoming "old" then the answer is "yes." If you mean are you becoming "a stud", then I'm ROFL with the Cap'n... rt That's a pretty lady. Your (much) younger sister?

So if someone were inclined to acquire one of those Legends cars with the sealed engine, and if they had no intention of racing it, could they unseal the engine for home service? Just curious what sort of sealing they do with the engines. |
