I just found this while doing my morning search for any 2007 Buell news. Looks like BNC to me. (Complete article with photos at http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fSectionId=883&fArticleId=3333342) Heat up the city on Buell's flying tangerine July 11, 2006 Buell has come up with a new version of its 984cc, V-twin powered Lightning CityX urban warrior with orange translucent body panels if you prefer being anonymous this is not for you. Only 300 of this limited-edition model have been allocated to Europe, 50 of them for Britain. Some of them, perhaps, for South Africa. Dealer principal Brian Wigerle was still at the dealer convention in San Diego, California, where this model was announced, at the time of writing so Harley-Davidson Johannesburg staff don't know for sure whether any will reach South Africa; as soon as they do so will you. The bike's mechanical parts are clearly visible through the translucent cover of the air box and the flyscreen, with dramatic results especially when contrasted with black handguards, headlight grille, cast-aluminium wheels and lower body panels. Buell's UK marketing manager Allan Brownridge commented: "Buell pioneered see-through styling on the first Lightning CityX in 2004. Our goal was to give city riders a bike with heaps of V-twin torque and a look that set it apart from anything else in the traffic. "Now we've taken that look even further." Buell Lightning CityX XB9SX Special Edition features: Special edition Valencia Orange translucent bodywork. Black handlebars, handguards, headlight grille, number plate bracket and wheels. Buell X air box guard. Supermoto-inspired braced handlebars. Pirelli Scorpion Sync tyres. 984cc, fuel-injected V-twin engine claiming 62kW at 6600rpm and 85.6Nm at 5600rpm. |

Another article: http://www.insidebikes.com/news/archives_2000/news_details.asp?id=4671 Not sure if this model is "Europe only" or if only 300 of them are intended for Europe. |

Neat to see, but all they did was put Valencia orange body work on it. EVERY Buell will have Pirellis this year too. I told everyone that before. |

But does it have "Bold new Graphics"? I'll be delaying my purchasing decisions until that question is confirmed. |

EVERY Buell will have Pirellis this year too. I told everyone that before. I suspect you will be right on that one. On a related note, I was just checking the Buell UK site to see if there was any mention of the "special edition" XB9SX, and I found this regarding a special offer for new Ulysses purchasers: "FREE Tyres choice: Buell is now in a position to offer new owners a choice of tyres when buying their new Buell Ulysses. If the bulk of riding is primarily road touring or commuting, then enjoy supreme on-road handling with the Pirelli Scorpion Sync as used on the critically acclaimed XB9SX City X. If the riding may go beyond normal road surfaces then do so with the specially designed Dunlop D616 tyres." |

Nice links. The 1340cc 6-speed Firebolt with Ohlins, Marchesini & Brembo will be announced on Friday. Or maybe not. |

I was told this weekend that Buell will never adapt a 6 speed, by a Higher up. Claims that it makes the bike slower and less reliable. |

I suppose I should clarify that. They can't offer a completely new bike every year. Thats alot of engineering work for a small manufacturer. |

"Hmmmm I was hoping the ztl-2 would be standard equipment on the 07 models." I'm really thinking that it probably will be... Which IMO makes me think that this here article is bunk... "Dealer principal Brian Wigerle was still at the dealer convention in San Diego, California, where this model was announced, at the time of writing so Harley-Davidson Johannesburg staff don't know for sure whether any will reach South Africa; as soon as they do so will you. " I was under the impression that the dealer meeting hadn't started yet... (Message edited by M1Combat on July 11, 2006) |

Nope, it's not bunk, but it is apparently just for the UK: http://www.buell.com/en_uk/news_events/newsdetail.asp?news_id=893 |

Slower and less reliable---WTF is he smoking. No way can a properly geared 6 speed be slower, and if they were less reliable would they be putting them in the new HD's?? The 6 speed in my S-2 sure did not make it slower. And synthetic oil will keep your roller bearings from spinning---- Gotta love the "experts". |

The handleing will #465827% and cause a greater %$%*&^)_(*& which will be very cool. The new **%&( is the best p_)*(HG_)*. Hope that helps.

The 6 speed doesn't meet European sound requirements. That's what Erik said at homecoming 2005. |

District Managers got sneak previews this week. It is technically possible that there will be some leaks now that the District Managers have seen the lineup. Dealerships will get to start ordering tomorrow. Unveiling to Summer Dealer Meeting attendees and to the "Public" via the internet will be Saturday. Less than 48 hours. Do remember though, that the Long, Uly, and RR have been launched in the last year - a lot of work! Just you wait, til Model Year Oh-Eight (Can we stand a year of speculation?! If it's on the internet it's gotta be true...) H-D and Buell are notoriously very private about new product - the company's Leadership Conference (management of a certain level and higher) actually already got preview of MY07 product back in APRIL. |
