a long time ago Blake started this site and looked at it from above and said 'It was good', disciples came from afar to read the wise words of information and everyone said 'It was good'....it prospered and at any time day or night if you had a query it would be answered within nano seconds. Then came the heated debates, the heated arguements, the heated bust ups, all was not good in the garden of Badweb, however, many kept the faith and after a few beers everything became rosy again. Some of us who left the flock for pastures new and ocassionly popped back to look over the garden wall...all appeared good again. So I tried a test after being tempted to worship my Buell again...lets see if a technical query cuts it within all the other posts about guns and terrorists and 4th of July celebrations... Failed miserably I'm afraid...so its back to the wilderness for me... |

I had not seen your previous post. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/207742.html?1150993933#POST6 81214 Honestly, I, myself don't know. My Guess is 2-5 hp. The torque curve will move, & you may need to dyno tune again. Does your tuner have a fuel/air sniffer on his dyno? Or is he doing it the old fashioned, change & test way? The other mods look good, more power needs a holistic approach, I don't see the choke point on your bike. Air cleaner? ( there is always some component that is holding things back. On a '98 S1, you have the Lightning heads, right? The combo you have looks good for 90-105 hp depending on tune & porting. ) I looked at your profile. Ouch! I'm glad I didn't have your issues. Though, complaining about carb icing is a little bit over the top. ( like Myself complaining about fork stops. LOL ) Love the swingarm. How's that working for you? Was it worth the money do you think? I don't know why you did not get a faster response. Maybe we were too busy picking which guns to guard against terrorists on our 4th celebrations. ..... Me, I just went & watched fireworks. |

I'm not a tuber guy, but I'd say Aesquire would be pretty accurate. What compression ratio are you running, and have you had your heads ported? BTW I love the single side swingarm. How hard was the conversion? |

My VW Bugs always used to ice up. Exposed engine, too much cold damp air. Cover it and create a heated intake. As for the other whiny 5hit, I can't help you with that, as I have no idea what you're talking about. |

'I've never experienced carb icing in my buell...or any of my past harleys or bmws.' I drove thru the winter over the scottish mountains to and from work....very cold and very damp and I was given a free unlimited supply of Harley fuel additive to try and cure it...it never worked completely. I had the same problem with my 900 Ducati in 1991, Ducati tried lots of mods on my bike and eventually designed carb heaters for the new models and retro fitted them to other owners. SSSA is a direct bolt on from Monaco http://www.ram.mc/buell.html Heads have been ported I just gave the guy free reign, bit of an eye opener for him working on a HD engine |

I don't know why you did not get a faster response. Maybe we were too busy picking which guns to guard against terrorists on our 4th celebrations. Yeah, what he said. Regardless, good to see you back Mark. How's the bike run, seat of the pants I mean? |

Thanks for the web site. I've seen them in pics, but never met someone with a SSSA. How is it? Did handling improve? Or is it just Beautiful? Any carb'ed machine will ice up in the right conditions. That's not really the bikes fault, just the nature of the carb perched out alongside the engine. What aircleaner you running? |

I'm aware of this, hence the carb heaters on aircarft engines, etc. Like I say, mine has NEVER iced, and that includes starting in -20o F temps.... I ran fat jets, however, and that might effect bigger orifices which disallow as much icing |

'Regardless, good to see you back Mark. How's the bike run, seat of the pants I mean?' Runs crap at bottom end until 3000rpm then takes off like a scalded cat...need to sort out fuelling at bottom end. Had a mess around yesterday but haven't had the time to go for a run yet. 'Or is it just Beautiful?' At the moment is just that! I've always suffered from back end squirming on 90-100mph bends, put it down to lack of high speed damping in the shock, need to get it down to a good suspension guy to rebuild the rear shocks and front forks to suit my weight etc. As I haven't been on the bike for a good while so it feels unbelievably bad, handling wise but I can remember how good it was once I got used to it so probably need some quality time on the back lanes! |
