HD's real cash cow is the sale of HD trademarked accessories to the teeming white trash consumer market. the loss of tens of thousands of service customers would hardly be a blip on their fiscal radar. |

It's amazing how many people on this forum like to feed trolls. I've got an idea. Why don't a bunch of us find an Airhead BMW forum and we can bitch about everything that's wrong with them? It'll be pretty easy to do. I can find plenty of things that will make the Airheads blood boil. |

I'm on board Crusty. Buellgrill has not been a troll before, to my knowledge. She's just been eating sour grapes this time, and I understand those can be hard to swallow. She lied about how long it took to get her bike back and when confronted with that she has just changed the subject and somehow she is now in charge of the stock market as well. Her and 71sportster must have a grand old time together. |

She had a legit question. I provided a legit and honest answer. I like that and I excel at it. The stock market stuff, John Maynard Keynes would tell us, is going to be must more subjective based on personal preferences. I have mine; others have theirs. To quote "James Taylor" when someone yelled "we love you" at a concert at the Beacon Theatre.

Court, you handled this with your usual aplomb. But as has been illustrated here, some people just want to disconnect from reality. Perhaps there are other factors involved. |

One of the local Harley Dealerships has been using the "Not only can you have fun on a Harley you can save fuel as well" add campaign. It is selling bikes. So far this season in this area I have seen more Buells, (New and old) More hubby & wife two bike familys Big Harley / 883 combos. I would have to say that the harleys are selling, the Buells are selling here and we are not known as the trend setter for the rest of the country. I think I will hang on to my stock. If anything the market has become very competitive. MSRP pricing (or very close to it with room to dicker) is the norm not the exception. Or maybe I am missing something.

Isn't this just so typical though. Just all the same old Nazi fasicst BadWeB where dissenting opinion is stifled and those who opine as such are banned for life. Errrr... but gee that isn't the case at all is it. How do such rumors get started anyway? Buellgrrrl, You sure do have a great imagination and knack for story-telling. The scenario you outlined based upon your observations during your ride is wonderfully creative. I have a personal challenge for you though; I challenge you to imagine, based upon the same observations, a positive future for Harley Davidson and Buell motorcycles. Can you do it? I double dog dare ya. Seriously. If you cannot do that, how about telling us some interesting stuff about your ride. That's a long ride for one day. |

A good friend has been looking to buy a motorcycle. He was looking at a Yamaha. I e-mailed the Buell website to him. He was impressed, checked my bike out. Thinks we should go to the dealer, check prices. I am torn, I like my Buell but because of the problems I've had; crap stock tires that I had to replace when new, melted headlight lens(Buell said was normal wear and tear-NONSENSE) and what I think terrible service from the Harley dealer. I may have to tell him he is better off looking elsewhere. |

Blake, my ride started from my friend's place in Starbuck, MN at 6 am. I was checking on some postal facilities that my agency is trying to consoldate and building an argument against consoldation. I headed west on MN 28 (boring). After 70 miles I gassed up in Brownsville and the ride gets interesting. For the next 90 miles to Aberdeen I take a short cut on lovely county roads with little traffic and lots of fast sweepers around the glacial lakes and hills. Stop for breakfast in Aberdeen and check out the 2 facilities there. Head south on US 281 to Huron, look over the restored railroad depot in Redfield and gas up- cruising at 70-75 into a strong headwind takes it's toll. Check out 2 facilities in Huron and confirm my suspicions- the consolodation plan won't work. Headed east toward home on US 14, noted slow engine turnover when starting up and started putting together contingency plan in case stator has smoked again... lets see, I think there's a Buell dealer in Watertown and daily bus service out of there, or should I unhook the headlight and try to make it back to Starbuck? Before shutting off for lunch in DeSmet I pull out the VOM and bike is charging OK. Temp is now on the 80s so I take advantage of the free refills on pop along with my $2.49 daily special at Subway. Back on the bike I jump off US 14 at Brookings to see if tiny White, SD ever got the new post office they were scheduled for years ago- no, they're still stuck with the tiny beat up office trailer with the porta potty around back. Follow MN 19 across the Buffalo Ridge then back to flatlands on MN 23 to Granite Falls. Stop for the featured $2.89 Kemps M&M malt at Hardey's, was much overated and not even big & cold enough to even give me an ice cream headache. Follow MN 23 then hop on MN 7 to the South Fork of the Crow River, then MN 25 and a county road downriver to Delano. Another 30 miles or so east on US 12 which becomes I 394 and I'm home in Minneapolis by 7 pm. Stats for the day: About 550 miles, 3 meal stops, 4 fuel stops, 6 stops to look at postal facilities and other interesting things, and 5 trains. Found an interesting back road into Huron because DM&E was forever blocking a crossing while switching on US 14, and saw an impressive coal unit train with 3 massive EMD locomotives on BNSF along MN 23- 2 units pulling and a remote control unit pushing on the rear. |

It's refreshing to see that you haven't been chased off by the heated discussion. That is indicative of a strong character. Strong character my a$$ (hey Glitch used the F word, so I can say a$$?), a negative whiney character is more along the lines of what I perceive!! A person with strong character knows when to shut up !! I get your trying to make a point about not silencing those who have issues with Buell, but at this point grrrll could be whining about Dove soap and I've had my fill !! CJ |

Court, you handled this with your usual aplomb Court should never be confused with a plumber. Ask him about the pipes and gun. Bullets seem to have a negative effect on the ability for pipes to hold water. In his defense he was provoked. |

>>>>Court, you handled this with your usual aplomb You are too funny, I think you've committed a misreadiation. The word was "aplomb". It means to use a weight suspended on a string to establish a vertical reference. I've found huge nuts work best and generally just take my nuts and tie them to a string and dangle them. Hint: The bigger the nuts the better. Your misunderstandiation is understoodable. |

>>>Ask him about the pipes and gun. Man...talk about a cheap shot. For those, new to Buells and this board, it's true. . . I most certainly was PROVOKED. I'd just let the dog (he's innocent in this one instance, but usually causes most the trouble) out, left the door open and a darn bird flew in the basement. I'm an experienced hunter and was cleaning a Remington 870 at the time. Call it reflex, and I think understandably, that a bird hunter, cleaning a shotgun, with birdshot sitting nearby, when confronted with an offending bird, is perfectly justified in pressing the weapon into service, responsibly and as designed to be used, to eliminate the problem. I am, I should point out, a trained expert Marksmen, although I should qualify that it was with a sniper rifle, not a shotgun. Anyway, I seldom miss. Again, this was a rare exception. Most people, given my skill and experience, wouldn't hesitate to shoot. The "grey area" centers around it they would shoot TOWARD a 1-1/2 water line INSIDE a house. I concede that there is some room for a diversity of opinions. On the bright side, even though I missed, my quick response provided a wonderfully ample hole, where the nearby window had been, and the bird promptly left. My family is safe. The neighbor was unharmed and is progressing nicely in counseling. He, I think, would have been okay, if it hadn't been for the little New Year's "hunting" accident with his ceramic deer. I apologized, but I just have a real "thing" for yard art. I really get unfairly characterized in these things. |

From Webster's dictionary: One entry found for aplomb. Main Entry: aplomb Pronunciation: &-'pläm, -'pl&m Function: noun Etymology: French, literally, perpendicularity, from Middle French, from a plomb, literally, according to the plummet : complete and confident composure or self-assurance : POISE synonym see CONFIDENCE I'm not a geologist or surveyor, but I think you meant a plumb line, as in Websters also: Main Entry: plumb line Function: noun 1 : a line (as of cord) that has at one end a weight (as a plumb bob) and is used especially to determine verticality 2 : a line directed to the center of gravity of the earth : a vertical line I'll ask you about Buells or high power lines. You ask me about English. Deal? (Message edited by pwnzor on July 10, 2006) |

no, the gravity axis of a plumb line is, by definition/translation, "according to the plummet" we all know, from our periodic tables, the etymology of 'plumb'.... but the primacy (gettin' all 'chicken and egg', and sh*t)of expression seems to be lost on a few non-romance language speakers, here. you want a truck? you come talk ta me |

I am referring to English, the common language and the contemporary uses of the words in play. I used the word 'aplomb' correctly, no question about it. I never said it couldn't mean what he said, I am merely asserting that it does mean what I said. I've got all the trucks I need, thanks. (Message edited by pwnzor on July 10, 2006) |

Too bad EMD gave the bidness away to GE -- use to know a gent what worked at the Lagrange plant (it was HOOOOOOGE!), along with a coupla t'ousand of his colleagues -- big hole in the local economy, and a great example of why it was smart for HD to get into the financing bidness oh, and in SOME circles, ceramic deer ASK to be slaughtered . . . . . . |
