There is a IMO a very strange Scientology orientation video floating around the net..

I first saw part of it on You tube but It was pulled...

I finally got to see the whole thing and there is a portion of the video that has different people of different Professions talking about how it has helped them..

I'm not knocking any religion but this video is down right weird... At one point they talk about putting a gun to your head and blowing your brains out.. Anyways

I'm not sure if my eyes are fooling me but I saw kieth code do a cameo in this thing was that him????

Yes, Keith Code is a Scientologist. He's talked about this publicly before.

http://tinyurl.com/j3u9c

Before going to his Level-1 California Superbike School, I was concerned that it might be something that he preached during the course, but in my experience nothing could be farther from the truth. The class was run completely professionally, and nothing regarding Scientology was even remotely discussed.

At the class shop afterwards, there were copies of Dianetics and I think another Scientology book available for sale along with the T-Shirts, and TOTR books and videos, but in no way were they being pushed on people.

My opinion: Dianetics was a best-seller in the aquarian-age of the 70's, and IMHO is a rehashing of many self-help ideas from religious and secular sources.

Keith Code has said in interviews that he feels it helped him straighten out his life during a critical time, and since he's the only one that knows, I certainly won't disagree with him on that. Regardless of my personal opinions about the organization, I'm not willing to condemn him for his spiritual/religious beliefs, and nothing he's done in his course has convinced me that's an incorrect stance.

That being said, if you are familiar with "Dianetics" at all (come on, either your parents or you probably had it on the bookshelf,) I think you can see how it's influenced his thinking and presentation, but as I said above, since this is IMHO a rehashing of previous approaches to self-fulfillment, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Regardless of your opinion of Scientology, don't let it keep you away from Calif. Superbike School, as from my experience I think it's a top notch program.

IMHO, Scientology is no religion.

This is bordering on religious discussion, you guys better watch out before the oppressive dissent-stiflers show up. ;)

Discussing Scientology is in no way discussing religion.

Look up nut and scam in your dictionaries.

"At one point they talk about putting a gun to your head and blowing your brains out."

I'm not one to take threats of suicide lightly.

But certain televangelists and the folks creating some of the current worldwide problems with anti-social actions based on religious beliefs could solve some problems by showing some willingness to do that alone and in sparsely populated areas.

Like I said, I could care less if people want to wait for Zenu, Xenu or Czeeknew for that matter.

I never passed any judgement on anybody.

As for the superbike school, some wacko's beliefs would hardly keep me away. If anyone tried to hand me the literature it would just get unceremoniously knocked to the ground and its bearer verbally admonished in as loud a voice I could muster.

Amen.

scientology's not the worst system someone could subscribe to.
it's helped thousands get their act together.
it isn't my cuppa tea, but my own associations aren't for everyone, either.
i like scientology, nonetheless.
i've read dianetics three times, have always learned something new from it, and have gleaned lessons which have helped me in my life's journey.
i've also read the talmud (which many call the 'old testament'), the new testament (king james version), the koran, the bhagavad ghita and the i ching, innumerable times.
i have gleaned much from each of those wonderful codes, as well.
i'm not about to shave my head and hand out flowers,, don a yarmulke, a kepi, or start gurgling in tongues and listening to christian rock, but each has it's own excellent life lessons.
i picture st. matthew, ibrahim, eliza muhammed and maybe even l. ron hubbard all riding together, down the big hiway, on various motorcycle makes. they all have the same destination in mind, they just ride different machines.

Sugar pills work as well. And some swear by snake charming.

Dianetics is nothing more than "projection therapy". It's not new. It's not a L.Ron Hubbard discovery. It is a cult and should be treated as such. There is no "science" with scientology. Where's the empirical data? It's top secret of course. So therefore irrefutable. Disgusting, really.

And don't get me started on thetans, xenu and the clam theory that suggests the reason we clinch our teeth is that we are remembering our past clam life. It's really laughable...

If you read Dianetics and you think that you know what Scientology is, you are mistaken.

That is the beauty of this scam, Hubbard wrote the book and it does seem very logical.

The "religion" on the other hand, is anything but.

You really need first hand knowledge with these birds to understand how far out there they are.

good points(s). sounds like classic bait and switch.
where, exactly, is the line between religion and cult?
were the first lutherans a cult? how 'bout jehovah's witnesses?
mormons?
i'm sure jesus' original disciples were categorized as a 'cult' by the romans.

I can't take credit for the link, I copied it from TeddaGreek. I tried to watch the whole video, but it was kind of like an infomercial where they tell you enough that you want to pay more money to find out, but it so bored me it put me to sleep. I did like the final comment about how you can do whatever you want, you can follow Scientology or you can put a gun to your head and blow your brains out, it's up to you.

Well in the cult's defense in not much worse than the idea behind Moromism, that God wasn't happy with the worlds religions and bestowed to Joseph Smith (a teenager at the time most likely delusional, IMO, from scarlet fever) secret tablets that were buried in New Jersey that only he could read via seer stones. Not to mention that Native Americans are really Jews. Sorry if I offend any morons, my opinion of course. So thetan residue and aliens with scientology or secret tablets and seer stones? Religion can be ka-razy at times...

when i live din western samoa, the mormons were the caucasoid/christian influence there.
they feel that polynesians, as well, are one of the 7 lost tribes of israel, AND, to their props, they encourage traditional ways of the polynesians. i befriended many mormon brothers in samoa. they had no problem with my comingling with the samoan girls. they were nice people, those mormons.
for a couple years a brother was writing me telling me i had a daughter there. i contacted a native with whom i was tight, and had him check with the mata'i of my village. the mata'i assured me it wasn't true, none of my samoan girlfriends had kids within the correct time period, but for years i received the letters. zany stuff them mormons pull.
in retrospect, i wish i did have samoan offspring.

Mormonism is not Christianity by any stretch. Mormon doctrine denies the diety of Christ for starters.
