Mine is already torn and I only have 1500 miles on my bike. It tore at about 1k miles. It's still on, but it has a hole in it. My last bike had 12k miles on it and this piece of rubber looked like new. What gives? |

That's odd. Mine is still ok after 67,000 Perhaps you shift too much? |

It's the design, rubber on the end unsupported by any metal. My end's gone too. I tried to buy a replacement at the dealer. Of course they said they would have to order one for me. I've never been able to buy any Buell part that they had on stock. Everything has to be ordered. |

So the newer bikes have the rubber go all the way to the end with no aluminum sticking out? |

Short aluminum stub, rubber piece stuck on, no metal support, it will break off. |

i have a bagfull(24)of the older X1 threaded shift "pegs" i once made on a CNC lathe. When needed,i must purchase(have extras) the rubber piece which costs about $3. each. My XB(i assume this thread is about XB style) has the rubber part#N0600.02A8A which seems such a cheap part that this thread "may" be a waste of space. My XB still utilizes the original part. |
