99X1 with no prior electrical probs. I replaced the front signals and now can't get any to work. I checked all lights(bulbs and connections) individually and they work, but not when connected. Tested turn signal switch and swapped flashers (had spare new one), still no go. No blown fuses in the fuse box. Will not work with stock signals now either. The shop said look for ground short but I don't know where to start and the service manual doesn't help either. All other lights and functions work fine. Thanks in advance for your help. Sid |

Sid, I'm experiencing the exact same thing with my lightning. My fix is waiting until my less electrically challenged father to arrive later this month. NUTS |

Nutsosane... did you wire in aftermarket signals? I just put some LED turn signals on mine and it kept popping the fuse for singals/gauges every time I turned the ignition on. Replaced it with a 25 amp fuse and it fixed the problem completely. |

They are after market, but not LED. I've had aftermarket ones on the rear for years with OEM on the front. The front stalk cracked, so I wanted to replace them all with a matching set. When I changed the front ones, all worked fine. I then put the matching rear ones on and none work now. Even putting the stock ones back doesn't solve the prob. I can hear the flasher click once when I turn the signal switch on and then once when I turn it off. I cleaned the ground screw connector without any luck. I'm not blowing any fuses either. Sid |

When I replaced my lights I accidentally smashed a wire with the seat. If you's are experiencing what I did (not even clicking) then it is most likely the flasher relay (after you check fuses/bulbs). It costed me like 5$ for a replacement (nonBuell). |

This is a simplified wiring diagram if the turn signal system, electricaly it is correct physicaly it is not some simple tests, confirm that the handle bar switch connectors are tight (seated), and that all other connections are tight especialy the grounds. [ Visual check ] remove and re-seat the accessory fuse to be sure that the connectors in the block are ok. 1. unplug the flasher and with a gem clip or similar short between org/wht and vio/brn (+12v to flashing line, no flasher) set your handle bar switch to left or right, the lamps should should light if not pull the handle bar connector to harness connector apart a multi meter set for volts is needed here check between Vio/Brn and ground on the harness side 12v should be there if so set the meter for ohms (lowest range)check switch housing connector between Vio/Brn and Vio, left turn, Vio/Brn and Brn Right turn if low ohms (less than 20) switch is good re connect, set the meter to volts dc the range must exceed 12v check the Vio then Brn lines again with the red probe in the back of the harness side plug and the black on the ground post. should have 12v when set. If you have power there start visualy checking the harness for damage the steering head area is prone to trouble the ground to the head light on mine pulled apart contact me via e-mail, you sound like that you have checked the connectors and the lot other wise. I will help you if you would like Jim.. |

Be aware, some aftermarket signals ground through the mounting studs -- they seem to be designed to be mounted on non-grounded (plastic, for instance) bike parts -- to check, remove the new signals from the scoot, hook up the wahrs, and then test for functioning . . . . |

Oldog, I tried step one and the fuse blew as soon as I put the clip between the org/wht and vio/brn. Where should I go from there? |

It was one of the new signals grounding out in the rear, not in the wire harness. I didn't think the signals were grounding out because the two on the front were tested and working fine before I installed an identical pair on the rear. Thanks for the help. Jim's diagram is correct, the one from my service manual had a wire crossed. Thanks to all again, Sid |
