the guy is ok, he walked away. its a video of the race-ending crash of a BMW M3 at Mid Ohio Rolex Sports Car Series The driver, Joey Hand, was treated and released from the hospital. He did an interview today and he might win quote of the year for this: " I got out of the hospital at about 1:00 in the morning and went straight to Steak ‘n Shake and got myself a chocolate shake and a double Steak ‘n Shake burger with fries and chili." http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c72/everybodylikepi/?action=view¤t=m3fli pmp4.flv here's another link in case the first one gets overloaded. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiZ9Wc1yh8s&search=BMW%20M3%20at%20Mid%20Ohio%20Rolex%20Sports%20Car%20Series%20 D (Message edited by buellgirlie on June 30, 2006) |

Yeah, he probably wasn't too hungry for a while. It takes your stomach a while to settle down after you get off of the merry go round. I think he went around seven times. It looked like the guy that nerfed him did it on purpose or at least unnecessarily. He has probably been watching too much NASCAR. Jack |

I saw the original coverage on Speed.. Some of the other drivers involved in various wrecks that day (by this time they'd already had 5 yellows and one red) stated it was more due to the different classes running together. Certain cars were having to stuff themselves to avoid contact with slower classes on the track at the same time since the track is so tight. Anyway, on this occasion, there were only a few laps left and like all racers, The Pontiac was trying to make his moves.. So after following the Beemer for two laps, he was trying to move up the inside when the BMW changed his line slightly and he couldn't react fast enough to back his car down and avoid the contact. This final crash ended the race by the way.. At first, the BMW guy once they got him out, was laying in a growing pool of gasoline, so the safety crew picked him up and moved him as the fire team started preventative spraying/foaming etc. It was worth a look or four to say the least.. |

My kid brother crews for one of the privateers in that series, Cars #4 & 5. They just this year switched to BMW from Porsche. "MJ" |
