Escorted a buddy down to Honda of Hollywood on Sunday to pick up his new ride. Between another friend and I we tried to convince him of the attributes of other motorcycles (get the chicks on a Harley) but since he already has a BMW car, hat, key fob, yeah you can see where this is going, he ended up getting a new BMW K1200S. Nice bike - I bet he still has that big shit eating grin on his face today.

Tried to get Glenn to let me "scrub in" his tires while they were finishing up the paperwork but he declined the offer. I was only thinking of him and his safety.

Cruising Santa Monica Blvd. after leaving the dealer. We later jogged up to Sunset Blvd. with Roger leading the way on his Harley Fat Boy (Glenn got to ride on the B*tch seat on the way down) and rode to the coast and up to Santa Maria, trying to keep Glenn out of trouble but still having some fun with him at the same time.

We were hungry so Roger and I figured we could take Glenn to Neptune's Net since he was now a proper "biker dude!"

SWEEET!!!!

I led the way from Santa Barbara to Santa Maria and had to make a jaunt off the San Marcos Pass to Foxen Canyon Road (a local favorite) so Glenn could ride some twisties. I thought I was riding pretty mildly, but watched Glenn totally blow a right hand corner from my rear view mirror and decided I better really tone it down before a non-forgiving left hander got him. We were almost home going thru the little town of Garey, doing about 55 mph, and Glenn gets a little nutsy and passes me on the straight. Well we come upon the next series of 35 mph S-curves and I blow by him doing 70 and keep accelerating. Roger catches up a mile down the road when I eased off, and we both laugh looking backwards wondering where the guy on the "fast bike" is.

All in all I think Glenn did awesome on buying the bike, and was real happy he got back safely and didn't try anything "cute" on the new scoot. He wants to go to Laguna Seca with me since I have an extra ticket, so we'll see.

I only tried to sell him on a Buell just a little bit because:
(A) I like my semi exclusivity of owning a Buell and -
(B) It's not a magic motorcycle. Even if he got a bike exactly like mine, It wouldn't make him me!

Great bike, nice story, that's how a person should pick up their bike, with friends and then go for a long ride.

The K1200S is quite a machine.

you make it sound like this is his first bike, with him finally being a "proper biker dude." You didn't let a first timer buy a K1200S, did you?
