From July 2006 "Roadracing World":
Where is Colin Edwards when you need him?

"hummmmm or what about when the fuel tank IS the main frame rails???" Then you have to make the fuel tank/frame out of a non-sparking material, like aluminum, and make it thick enough so that it is very unlikely to grind through at the touch-down points Like Buell did. Ever hear of one grinding through and bursting into flames? even without the pucks?

Ever hear of one grinding through and bursting into flames? even without the pucks? nope! Love my Buell more and more every time I see stuff like this. |

Oh no, I better go run and return mine now. NOT! There's no way I could run the times I am at MSR on the XB. So flame on. That bike is HOT! |

How long before someone starts making tank 'pucks' for them? |

How long until race organizations start requiring some sort of sliders or pucks on the new r6's? They require thicker covers on crank cases where they may touch down. |

But I'll happily buy a set, just as I did for my XB. I'm 100% in favor of anything that protects the machine... within reason. |

Keith, Did RRW describe any of the other cases of flaming R6 incidents that they imply have occured? I hope Tyler was okay. There is a very bright moto roadracing future in store for that kid I think. I prefer Buell motorcycles; plus the Japan Inc machines have too much of a corporate atmosphere to them for my taste. |

I prefer Buell motorcycles; plus the Japan Inc machines have too much of a corporate atmosphere to them for my taste. Lol...You're so subtle. We all know you prefer Buell's Blake, and love you for it. But I would never expect for you to understand my position on the round 2 get together. You and I are as different as the bikes we race. |

Subtle would be a new trait for me. You racing this year? Cool! What is your CMRA #, and will you be at Oak Hill this weekend? Not sure you really know me well enough to imagine we are so different. If I were going racing and wanted the fastest machine on the track, I'd not be riding a Buell either. |

I hope to do my first provisional novice race this fall. First I'll need to get my bike wired and race plastics on. And then there are the leathers... Nope, I won't be at OHR. I'll be at MSR though. |

OHR in September then? |

I'll most likely be there before that. I've still never ridden there, or Hallet. I can't wait to learn those tracks too. Derek (Ortegakid) is chomping at the bits to go anywhere he can. Have I told you how fast that guy is? Geeze. It's humbling. |

You'll get a lot faster with time too. Would be fun to get everyone together for a track day at OHR sometime. |

I think that sounds like a great idea, Blake. I've been putting a bug in Chris' (rpmchris) ear about getting everyone together for a TNT Track Day. OHR just may be the perfect place. |

It is a fun place to ride, very challenging. It is also very rustic, but that adds to the challenge. Unfortunately, short of renting the place outright, all participants need to have a racing license; those with CMRA membership receive a discount. The good news is that TXU has rescinded plans to turn the place into part of their coal mine. That's a rumor I heard recently anyway. Last I heard, the whole place could be rented for around $2,500 or so. A couple dozen participants would make for an affordable track day. |
