want to really get some press, put a motor in a buell that is high tech, and not similar to the sporster motor...would get the front page of every motorcycle mag in the world. rex |

If you think the XB series is long in the tooth, you better look at the big four offerings again. Yamaha still offers the YZF-600R, Honda the CBR600F4i, Kawasaki the ZZR600, and Suzuki the Katana 600 & 750. Those bikes were all new in the early to mid 90's. But, they still sell well enough that the companies still make them, still stock them, and still sell them. The XB is, what, 4 years old? Give me a break man. Also, if you look at the big four supersports, they only become "brand new" motorcycle every 4 or 6 years. When did the R6 first hit the market? It has remained basically unchanged (with minor tweaks, don't listen to the mags that tell you differently), with the 2007 model year being the first real update. I hope the XB line stays around for a very long time, even if new models are introduced. In my opinion they are the perfect streetbike, and I will be very saddened if they disappear (unless Erik has something EVEN BETTER in mind, which is hard to even imagine) |

a wheel being 8lbs lighter than any other - oil in the swingarm - fuel in the frame - 100hp at the crank w/ a air cooled eng that still meets the EPA - a efi system that "LEARNS" - valve operated exht - man the list goes on and on, but 6 years ago people only chuckeled at the ideas, Laguna is certinaly a place to show off what people say can't be done. I think this marketing thing is so cool I personaly can't wait. |

Okay, I'm not supposed to tell this, heard/learned about it a couple of years ago, they're bringing back the tube frame but with a twist, it will be totally carbon fiber tubes, all one piece, no glued joints, and then engines will be air mounted instead of rubber isolator mounted, air shocks for the engine mounts that can be set to personal perference and conditions, rear shock will be air/hydraulic, front forks will also be air/hydraulic, rear swingarm will be single-sided full carbon fiber, wheels will be carbon fiber with ceramic bearings, drive system will not be chain or shaft or belt but will be something entirely new or as new as new can be since everything has already been done before in a different material-type timeframe/era that was the limiting factor at the time, it will be green-fuel flex fuel compatible that will adjust automatically and will accomodate blending fuel in the tank, octane requirements for regular gas will be 85 octane minumum, the seats will be an air/gel composite that will sense the rider's weight or can be controlled to personal preference, I was told I could post one sentence about this after June 25th so this is that sentence, oh yeah and rear wheel horsepower/torque will be stock at 97hp/88ftLb at 7200rpm, believe what you may, it's a Monday, MSRP at $8875USD + shipping & prep, 263 of them so far are fully crated and ready to ship as of 5:59pm Friday June 23, trust me, oh and before I forget ... . |
