I just bought a taurus 24/7 pro 40 over the weekend and was wondering if anyone here has shot on yet, or has any word about it. I am going to take it out this weekend, and put about 200 rounds through it.

if its brand new make sure you break it in before you put 200 rounds through it.

I had a Taurus model99 in nickel.
After about 1500 rounds the barrel warped.
Emailed them asking about the lifetime warranty.
They said send us the slide.
I did and they replaced it no questions asked.
I'd buy another one.
Good guns and good customer service.

I've heard good and bad things about taurus but the safety features on this piece had me sold. I have heard some complaints about the 45 model 24/7 but really none so far on the 40. Was just wondering what to expect. thanks

I shoot a Taurus P111, nice shooter, no problems.

I just bought a North American Arms .22 magnum. I haven't shot it yet. I think it will be a nice piece.

Lube it up, ( I like the Remington synthetic/teflon dry lube, but SYN3 will work fine ( don't hit me don't hit me ) wipe it down so there are no drips, & clean after you shoot. Taurus makes good stuff, let us know how you like it.

I'm having a helluva time with my PT111. Barrel would not come out of slide-sent for warranty; replaced barrel and slide. New slide has crappy hole in front sight so that must be replaced. Magazine at full capacity 10rounds shakes like the dickens. Waaay less than stealthy. I still dig it don't get me wrong just wish it was perfect. It does have an appetite for rounds-about 200 a week. NUTS

This is not mine, but is like the Taurus mentioned at the beginning of this thread:

"Badweb makes guns???"

Nope, but there are a few folks who could probably carve one out of a couple chunks of metal on the site here.

i used to have a Taurus Millennium Edition, I think it was a P140 (.40cal.). That gun was very picky as to what type rounds it liked to eat. I traded it in towards a Smith & Wesson tactical .40cal. I also have a Colt Annaconda .44 Magnum, WOW what a gun. I've had a few H&Ks and a Beretta 9mm, that was a nice full size. Never had a Glock tho...... Hmmmmm.

I'm a Colt 1911 guy myself.
Can't see where I'd ever need more than 7 shots? Unless 8 people break in to the house at once. I keep a couple extra full clips real handy just in case.
Pretty sure I would be able to get to the big toy box(gun safe) by then and get some more firepower.

Huh? Most folks break a gun in by shooting it. How else would you do it?

"Can't see where I'd ever need more than 7 shots?"

You are obviously a better shot than I am. One of the things I like about my G30 is I can use G21 magazines for a 13+1 capacity in a fairly compact frame.

A 1911 is going to make it in my collection eventually, though.

I've got a Taurus PT99 9MM that I bought new in the early 90's. It has been a great gun and I'd buy another.

Whats all this nonsense about only needing 7 shots or I can hold 13 plus 1 ? The more the merrier is my motto when it comes to holding rounds in a handgun. Thus the reason for a 16 plus 1, its like a mini machine gun! I like to carry a variety of rounds also. You never know what you might be shooting at..... metal as in a car, teflon as in a bullet proof vest, or if you may have the need to penetrate several layers of what ever obstacle is between you and the "bad guy". Mix it up..... Hollow points, full metal jackets, black talons, just to name a few..... OK, I'll stop now!

I'd like a 1911 as a companion to my Marlin Camp .45 carbine. They share magazines.

Haven't fired a Taurus, but I've never heard anything bad about them.

I to am a 1911 / .45ACP kinda guy.

Like Dave, "Unless 8 people break in to the house at once." Right, how many rounds do you need?

but;

With the .45ACP even if there are more people the rounds of ammo....shoot through them!

I have a normal sized hand but to me, hi-cap / double stacked mags are too wide for a comfy fit. I like the feel and concealability of the single stacked mags of the 1911 family. Want more / different ammo, carry more mags.

Don't get me wrong I like the high end 1911's but I bought this one because of the price and safety. Plus it feels great in your hand. 15+1 of some hydra shok or high end cor-bon 40 should be plenty for anyone. Its my first pistol, probably in a long number to come. Thanks for the opinions, I will post how it shoots but it might be a while my wife is due the 23.

the reason i brought the sam '11 up on this thread (maybe a few missed that) is that the extra stopping power precludes the need for more rounds. it's also a very relaible sidearm...carrie done for years until i was compelled to switch to a CZ 85.
the '11 makes the 9 feel like using a 410 for geese.
oh, look- i was 'one-starred' in my first post.
some strong feelings regarding sidearms on this board....
...or maybe "someone's" just pissy with ole' trampsky
