It could be a good way to resurrect some parts that have been stationary for a while. That thing could be fun. street-trackers rock! |

I love them old XS650 Yamahas. Dirt tracker, chopper, rat bike, or great to just thrash on. They sound great too. |

I see potential, too. It needs a little finishing, but the proportions look "right" to me. Did any of you happen to see the Triumph 'tracker I posted a few weeks ago?
It's for sale here in Houston, if I could swing the $7500 (and convince the SCU that I really need another Triumph) I'd take it home. 'Trackers do indeed Rock! rt |

With all due respect, I don't understand the infatuation with bikes like the Triumph above. I see that it has a few cool bolt on bits. But they're still bolted onto a tiny rough-rider toy looking bike. Perhaps the excitement comes from flinging the ass out around an apex? If so, why not go super motard? Just curious... d |

imagine the tuber experience -- unpolished, rough, primal -- then remove about 25% of the weight (or more) and power (sadly) and that's what ya got not for everyone, certainly, but lightweight, simple scoots have great appeal for some |

I had 3 XS yamahas. Every now and then I start jonesing for one.....and then I remember... slow, heavy, flexy, bone shakers. I do like to look at the street tracker types though. |

Since I own a '66 Bonneville AND a '74 Commando, I'm obviously bent that in that direction. For me, it's a nostalgic thing, I grew up riding those things back in the day, when a Bonnie was about hot as they came. I, like Bomber, admire lightweight, simple machines. The 60's-era Brits have that in spades. There's a lot of art in their design, to my eyes. But I generally don't ride 'em any further than I want to walk back from! rt "Why don't the British make computers? ...They can't figure out how to make 'em leak oil!" |

rt, I have some of the same feelings about the '71 240z I had that got me into club racing in college. I still can't believe I gave that car to that b1tc#. Live and learn. |

Dago, actually that black Triumph is more than a few cool bolt-ons. It's got an aftermarket frame and body work, high-end suspension at both ends, custom oil tank, nitrous, etc. etc. In fact, I'm not sure there's much left on the bike from Meriden except the motor. It would probably take a Triumph freak like myself to notice that from the little picture. But up close and personal, that's a really impressive bike! rt |

Here's my son riding my Norton. Cool, ain't it? Very. Perhaps I'll think back on this discussion 15-20 years from now and laugh when my kid is sitting on the XB I lovingly restored after stepping over it in the garage for 10 years fending it from my wife and her annual spring clean-up campaigns. |

That was fun, wasn't it? That night was a blast! It's too bad round two didn't have the same family feel (imho). Things got too corporate for my taste. |
