So early this morning I decided I need a break from work (work nights). I decided to go out for a quick jaunt, maybe be gone an hour. Well I wanted to try out some of my new goodies. (This damn Buell has taken a financial life of its own) Today I finally got my new Aerostich one piece suit (it matches the bike). Also I finally got around to trying my new Arai profile helmet (black frost of course). And last was a new set of earplugs, I ordered a large sample set from an online store. Well I couldn't be happier... Before with my basic riding gear, freeway speeds were work. Anything above 80mph caused serious wind buffeting. I really loved my Buell, but I have never owned a naked bike so I just figured this was part of the territory... Wrong... The new stich was so comfy, it never billowed, or pulled me about in the wind. The helmet (new shape for Arai) was quiet, and air flow around the helmet was amazing. Before long I found what 7000+rpm means in 5th gear (GPS recorded 125) The helmet, and suit stayed very stable at the those speeds. The only reason I backed off was the front of the bike was getting light (it wobbled lightly when I backed off - a little scary). Before all of this I would have never spent this much money on riding gear. I am here to say NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY CHEAP CRAP. QUALITY ALL THE WAY |

Good to know. I am looking at getting an aerostitch soon and I was most concerned with wind buffeting. Any suggestions for getting the size right? |

Nate, Just call aerostich (number on the site). Just talk with them, they will decide what size you need. In my case I am a slender guy (5.10 155lbs) but I have a 32in inseam. I am definitely glad I was talked into a 40 Long. When on my cityx it fully covers my ankles, and provides enough extra room for cold weather gear. As for wind buffeting the back of the suit has a large elastic area that keeps the suit in constant tension. The one area that I need to work on (not their design fault) is wrist area. These suits were designed with gauntlet style gloves in mind. I ride with low profile sport bike glove (A* Raven). The gloves funnel air up my sleeves, no matter how tight I cinch the wrist zippers down. This would be great in the dead of summer, but traveling at excessive speed in 50 degree weather is not so hot... FYI the lead time right now is 7 weeks out for a new suit. |

I love to hear that people are wearing adequate gear while riding. Good Job! to quote Ted Nugent "I'm here to tell you it can save your life! The stakes are high!" (selected portion of a verse from "free for all") diablobrian, aka the "gear nazi" ps I also like another line from that song, "when in doubt, I whip it out...I got me a rock-n-roll band" |
