Just got the seat for my S3 back from Sargent. I had "Supercell" foam installed front and rear, had the "rise" moved forward 1 inch, and had "Griptex" inserts added front and rear. Total cost was ~$250 shipped. I decided to go this route after hearing how the Corbin seat moves you even further back than stock; I actually needed to move a little further forward. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet, but it looks good. I had them reinstall the stock handle, but I may remove it after a few days and see how it looks without it.

seat on bike They re-worked a seat for my old 1983 Honda VT500FT Ascot a few years back and did a good job on it. I'm hoping the upgraded foam is a big improvement over the stock S3 seat. (Message edited by whodom on June 14, 2006) |

Ahhh, didn't take a few days. Took the grab handle off and I think it looks better that way. The seat's not hard to remove without it.

those handles have always puzzled me. They encourage passengers to hold that rather than the rider and by doing so it shifts weight even further behind the rear axle. Not to mention weight shifts while cornering. Good job ditching the strap. It looks better too. |

Nice looking seat! Let us know how it works out as far as comfort and the "griptex" goes. The grab straps, as far as I can figure, are the motorcycle industry's solution to the federally mandated 'passenger hand-hold' that is required on all bikes capable of carrying a 2nd person. Possibly, after the stock exhaust systems, the most removed item from motorcycles, ever. AL |

Ahhh another useless federal mandate based on an incomplete (I'm being kind) knowledge of the subject at hand (riding motorcycles) when any rider knows where proper hand holds are. |

Thanks for the compliments on the seat. Let us know how it works out as far as comfort and the "griptex" goes. Sargent offers 3 different materials- regular vinyl, Carbon FX (carbon fiber look), and Griptex. My Honda seat has the carbon fiber stuff, and it looks nice. It's not quite as textured as the Griptex. The Griptex is supposed to actually promote a little airflow under your tush, which'll be nice on those long, hot rides this time of year. |

Charlie, I think it took about 6 weeks. Turnaround time is pretty long during riding season but less during the winter. They also offer something like a ~$20 discount on seat work during the coldest months. |

Makes me want to get my machine and start making motorcycle seats again. Sure beats the hell out of what I do now for money. |
