Now.. As I understand it.. FIFA wanted the games called in strict accordance with the rules.. But this guy was an asshat if ever there was one.. How the hell did he end up reffing at the World Cup? He made one red card that I think (almost) everyone agreed with. The next one was more like, 'Sorry Italy, here I'll take one of their players as well.. just to keep it even' .. and the last.. well.. that was a load of shite .. as were a lot of the yellows.. You don't suppose he bet someone he could frak up a game and get away with it do you? That said, we must thank the Italians for the own goal.. and really wish that US goal had stood.. but, it technically was a good call (maybe his only good one of the day?). |

Man, ECU showed up just to roll over. They looked like they were playing an off-day inter-squad scrimage. Only good news is they get an extra day of rest. Now to see who they'll play... |

England has a defensive meltdown in the 90th minute to allow Sweden the equalizer, but still an entertaining game. Actually, Sweden should've won with some brilliant corner kicks that were taken in the first 15 minutes of the second half. Man this World Cup has been good! |

Well there ya have it. USA is out and is again cursed by a bad referee and a terrible penalty. Ghana's player clearly took a dive and there is no way that penalty kick should've been awarded. Italy does it's job and beats the Czechs but it'll be another 4 years before US soccer has a chance to try to prove itself again. |

I've got Puerto Ricans, Belgians, Panamaniacs, Ecuadorians, Spaniards and even (gasp) a Brit heading to my place Sunday morning to see Ecuador kick some limey ass. Cold Pilsner and warm Bass... |

The only thing I don't like about the world cup is the smug and pridefull attitude of US soccar players and coaches. The attitudes toward the Iranian players after losing to them years ago, the "war" talk this year, the constant "we should have won if not for...". World cup is good stuff for sure. I may be hooked, but US teams dissappoint me. STill better than baseball though |

Josh...I'm sure you're currently drowning your loss in some of that pilsner and Bass, but ya gotta admit that was a classic Beckham free kick! (Message edited by hattori_hanzo on June 25, 2006) |
