Rear end seems to wobble side to side cruising around 65mph +. Any ideas? 2005 Blast w/ 1K miles |

Is it a wobble or a vibration? Is the wheel balanced? Is this the original tire and is this something new?

I would say a wobble. I cant say if the wheel is balanced or not. we just got the bike. do you have directions on how to pull the wheel off...steps, torque specs, etc? yes, orig wheel and tire |

The first step with a new Buell is to order the Shop Manual and parts list from Daves at Appleton, HD, one of our sponsors. The rear wheel removal must be done according to the manual, it is not like other bikes. Daves phone number is 920 757 1651 He is off mondays. |

It would be a good idea to have a burly friend get the rear end off of the ground and feel for play in the rear wheel bearings and also the swingarm. It sounds like something very bad is going to happen to you if you donm't figure this out! I hope it's just unbalanced. |

Are you riding on a concrete road? Does it have rain grooves? |

Good point about the Manual. If the wheel is balanced it will have some stick on lead weights. |

slide a lenght of all thread or other metal rod through the rear axle, and prop it up on a couple of jackstands -- you'll be able to tell if it's bearings PDQ (I'm betting balance -- there can be wieghts, but not enough, don't ferget) |

ok, so i put it on a rear stand, and then what? push the wheel from side to side? am i looking for play? if no play, it must be unbalanced correct? |

Ummmmm not to sound like a jerk but 1. how much experiance do you have working on mechanical things. 2. If you don't, got any friends that do? I would hate to have you get messed up based on what we tell you because this is the first time you have ever worked on a bike. no offence intended. |

TX -- rotate the wheel, looking/feeling for noises or vibrations pull it from side to side, to see if you can make it tilt out of vert plane -- if it rotates smotthly and quickly, and won't tilt, it's likely balance (little is 100%) 2nd what Lightkeeper said -- get some help if you're inexperienced -- no shame in not knowing, only in being unwilling to learn, I think |

If I allow my rear tire to wear down to have a flat spot down the middle (chicken strips), my bike will wobble a bit on the highway. This reminds me... I have to buy tires |

Thanks Bomber...thats what I thought. As soon as I get the Hayabusa off the rear stand (needed brakes), I will check out the girlfriend's Blast. |
