FB1,

You know how I feel. You and Dave Gess are the most normal people we have in your positions. Nothing personal against anyone else but you two are folks I know and trust. Hate to see you walk away but I already told you that last night.

On another note... I've checked the house over thoroughly and it looks as if FMJ did not engage in sticker vandalism whilst here at the Bantz ranch. ;)

Why would anyone want the thankless job of being a custodian?
I saw it as a way to give a little back too the board and Blake that I got so much from, little did I know what I do now. If I had it to do over, I'm not sure which path I would take.

I think Jerry's punishment should be to make him remain custodian

thanks JB2, but most of the time i don't feel very "normal."

the guys and gals who are, or who have been, custodians have done the best job they know how. i happen to (usually) have a lot of patience, and (usually) try to see both sides of an issue before i react.

the folks on the custodial crew all see the world a little differently than each other, and its normal that one person's precise position on an issue is seldom anyone else's precise position on the same issue.

to the folks who bemoan ANY rules on a bulletin board, well, i see your point, but there are plenty of other motorcycle boards where anything goes, and i don't think it's too much to ask that people here try and keep their conversations civil and courteous and relatively "family safe."

and to the same folks who can't stand rules of any description, how in the name of God's green earth can you stand living in the USA? it must drive you absolutely freakin' bonkers. no wonder some of you are so filled with pointless, mean-spirited anger.

Blake's done an awesome job with BADWEB over the years, and this place will continue to exist and flourish. yes, it has some zits and warts and occasional bouts of flatulence, but the "perfect" motorcycle bulletin board does not exist.

and never will.

glad to hear the Fireman didn't trash your place too bad, but, on the other hand, i bet Hartford City will never be the same. ;)

Glitch, i appreciate the job you've done as custodian, and hope you continue to fight the good fight.

Thanks Jerry.
I do wonder sometimes.

What I had/have the hardest time with I think is that once a custodian, you're not yourself any longer. Everything you say seen in a different light by the board members. Suddenly you can't simply speak your mind.
I'm sorry, didn't mean to high-jack.
Jerry, stay on and keep me company. I do enjoy good company.

Im with Buellfighter on this one. You should be punished severly for your raucous behavior. Personally I can't think of much worse than. forcing you to remain a custodian.

Either that or you have to raise twin teenage drop dead gorgeous redheaded dauhters..............

Frankly, Trumpo likes to cast out a rather large net in the hope of catching someone to argue with. Why Ferris of all people feels he owes some justice for his 'polite' 'F you' comment I don't grasp. Personally, if it were me Trumpo would never surface again on BadWeB.

I also don't think threatening violence, no matter how seemingly tongue in cheek or covertly done, is acceptable behaviour for him to remain here on BadWeB.

I would wish Trumpo off BadWeB in an instant.

i did the right thing by apologizing to Tramp, and i'm doing the right thing by stepping down

{cough}BS {cough}

It was a simple you, deserved in my opinion and your's obviously, it's just you don't feel it's ok to act that way on badweb, I get that.

I don't see a need for an apology, a little disappointed that you did, but also admire you're maturity in doing so !!

Stepping down as custodian, ridiculous !!

Sometimes you guys can be worse than girls, wanting to be so polite and do the right thing, sheesh !!

Exactly what CJ says!

"but there are plenty of other motorcycle boards where anything goes"

I don't know of a single one.

I have personal experience with a discussion board that you might view as belonging in that category. I was banned merely for posting to four old threads (~30 days with no new posts) there while undertaking a search for another old thread that it turns out had apparently been deleted for some reason. I was confronted publicly there and even here on BadWeB. No email, no offline contact, no benefit of doubt whatsoever was given. When I politely and thoughtfully explained the situation by email, my word was publicly doubted.

Privately I was told that if deserved, an apology would be forthcoming; then later I was told that no apology was warranted. I don't post there anymore. I don't have any respect for those who don't respect me in return. This is the same miserable place that thrives on derisive gossip and outright character assassination of folks, me included, not only by certain of the miserable minions there, but also by one of their sponsors.

Some people are never wrong. They make miserable friends. Anyone who can admit a mistake and publicly apologize and make good is the type of friend I want and the type of custodian BadWeB NEEDS.

I therefore reject with prejudice your request to resign custodial status for the reasoning you provide.

If you're open to vacation from this thankless job, then just do that. You've got a good testimony as a Cuss-Toadian in this community.

Jerry did the right thing by apologizing.

Although I also personally feel the "**** you" was deserved and was not that much of a big deal, trolls had taken this over to SacBorg, where it was becoming a festering issue. The "righteous indignation" felt by some was not and does not serve the best interest of BadWeb. It is better that a peaceful resolution was found because there is value on both boards. Eventually, the majority on both boards will learn to respect one another.

I have no insight to the Custodian inner sanctum. His stepping down seems to be a personal decision and I will respect that decision.

Blake, my friend, i've made my decision, for reasons that i'm entirely comfortable with. please do me the courtesy of honoring this decision - i deserve at least that much.

Rocket:

I don't get your action at all.

join the club; seems you're not alone.

In fact I think you're letting other forces distract...

no, i'm not. this has nothing to do with "other forces," and everything to do with my honor, and protecting the integrity of BADWEB.

To let one man stop you taking a share in that activity doesn't seem like the knee jerk action of a principled man.

it wasn't a knee jerk reaction. what i said INITIALLY to Tramp was. everything i've said since then been very measured.

I'm disappointed in your decision.

see response #1.

In some ways it reflects a moral victory to someone who is not deserving of such.

what it reflects is a moral victory to ME, and to BADWEB. i've given Tramp nothing but the apology he deserved.

thanks for your viewpoints, and an opportunity to visit. i have to agree with Hans: your "provocative" comment wasn't necessary.

take care.

With respect Ferris, that's bull shit and you know it.

As a custodian you have every moral reason to continue being so. If a "fcuk you" comment is beyond the scope of your moral convictions or reason then you shouldn't have been a custodian in the first place unless you were willing to stand by necessary force to get the job done.

I don't see where it says in the BadWeB book of rules that custodians can't swear or offer up insults. I do see a general BadWeB policy that says personal insults are not tolerated but that doesn't stop them from happening, and not all are removed. Some even go unnoticed and pass by without incident. Why should yours be any different? Seems you're offering yourself up on a pedestal for your own peace of mind. To take the stance you have suggests custodians are above and beyond the call of 'ordinary' BadWeB contributors. That is simply not the case, or at least not according to what's been posted recently about custodians being no different from anyone else here. So just like everyone else, you get to fracture the rules every now and again. Showing otherwise enforces some of those opinions been touted on Sacborg about supposed hypocrisy and zealots over here. You stepping down does no one any favours, but it will leave you and the BadWeB with a bloody nose, and it makes you look like a self enforced zealot style custodian.

As for my 'prick' and 'provocative' comments they stand with ultimate clarity. That guy is always spinning a web in the hope of catching someone to sting. To date, you'll be his biggest catch if you resign

Be content with whatever you do. It is sad to see you get caught up in this shit through no real fault of your own. I'm much better at stepping in it than you, lol.

Why was my thread Chaos V. Order deleted?

Was it vengefull, and retalitory? Like this:

"This is the same miserable place that thrives on derisive gossip and outright character assassination of folks, me included, not only by certain of the miserable minions there, but also by one of their sponsors."

Was it because I was insulting and rude to someone? Like this:

"In some ways it reflects a moral victory to someone who is not deserving of such, and I'd kick Tramp off BadWeB in an instant for being the provocative prick he his."

Who deleted my thread and why? I see much worse here, posted by Blake and Rocket.

Jeez, I got family here so I've been offline for a few days, I log on & find the place imploding over a few stupid words.
Yes I know wars have been started for less but this is a bike forum for f***sake.
Let it go, nobody's bleeding here, no bones broken, not even a clutch lever bent.
Life's too short, move on!

For those that have still not grasped the concept, there are some (not many, & not very restrictive) rules here.
If you don't like them you don't have to stay, but don't pis in the pool just because you don't like the lifeguards!

Snail, since when has telling the truth been insulting and rude?

If you need to do the cut 'n' paste thing, there's at least four 'relevant' threads on Sacborg you could paste to without persistently trying to kick up a shit storm here. Those tough guys over there I'm sure would understand.

"Sean,

If you want to comment upon someone in a personal kinda way, please take it offline. Know Tramp for being Tramp and love him for it. He's a very unique individual as are you. No call whatsoever to get in his face for expressing his view. Taking issue with the view is great, fine, wonderful, but to launch into a personal criticism/commentary is not.

Please talk issues, not people."

Diff. strokes for diff. folks could be mutated into, diff. rules for diff. fools.

Rocket blows with the wind, but at the end of each day he is he, and I am me, and I'm gratefull for that.

In order to codify the rules each member should be given an 'Index of Importance' so they'll know which rules they are bound by.
