Okay guys, I'd like to know if there's still a huge difference in gas prices between Europe and America. Her in Belgium, prices are as follows: Diesel (petrol to you guys??): 1.05 euros Super 95 : 1.40 euros Super 98 : 1.42 euros Of course, it changes and depends on the gas station. Someone knows the USD - Euro rate so we can compare? |

Yes, that was by the liter... so: 1 gallon = 3.785412 liter and 1 euro = 1.3 USD that means we pay 6.9 USD/gallon for the 95!! That's more than double or did I miscalculate somewhere? |

Luvinit, You are about right. I was just in Belgium (Antwerp) in September for my work. The US still has lower prices than the EU and Asia so far as I can tell. Although I don't like the rising prices in the US...I realize we pay less than others so I can't complain too much. Having spent at least 1 year for work in Rotterdam, I understand that fuel costs are a bigger portion of a person's budget than in the US...I think that will change and people will either try to use less fuel or pay the price. I don't know how much I could cut back as I ride a motorcycle most of the time to get around. |

So then to my next question... How is the fuel consumption on a BUELL |

On my bike I get no LESS than 40 MPG...usually around 45. Or in your case about 64 - 72 KPG. I can go at least 120 Miles or 195 Km on a tank. I also have a Super Motard DRZ400SM that gets around 55 MPG (88 KPG). With a 3.8 gallon tank I can go at least 170 Miles or 275 Km on a tank. Both bikes are generally ridden fairly aggressively and I think that is pretty darn good. |

point of clarification -- PRICE of fuel is remarkably similar around the world the rate at which citizens allow their governments to TAX the fuel varies greatly around the world while we all have control of the demand portion of the supply and demand equation, the control acts slowly and imprecisly -- control over the politition, however, could be much more quick and focused |

I saw premium for $2.79 this morning on my way into work. Now if only it would quit raining so I could ride the bike into work and fill up that would be great. |

Luvinit, I get at least 50 mpg on my 2003 XB9S, race ECM etc. Have seen 60mpg on some fill-ups. I usually don't ride too hard. |

ok, here's the thoughts runnin thru my head people spend more on bottled water than they do on gas. I take mine straight from the tap. people spend more on cigarettes than on gas. I don't smoke. people spend more on alcohol than on gas. I'm a pretty light drinker. people spend more on food than gas. I'm far from being overweight. most people who could or would complain about gas prices, have some bad or discretionary habit they could divert funds from. I'm feeling like I must be rather boring sod. I even poach my porn free off of usenet. I gotta find me a bad habit I can pick up & drop for the sake of saving money. |
