Bruce's package came in the mail today. The "Poetry Corner" intro was a little....interesting. any way, she cleared me to post her poem here on Badweb. Remember to visit their website. }} {RIDE By Patricia Jones It's supposed to be a warning this bright yellow sign with twin serpentine curves, eleven miles of treacherous road down the east grade of Palomar Mountain. But it tells me heaven is only 4.2 miles ahead. My shoulders bend into the steady current of wind, leather clad hands clutching tight on grips, and I feel the smooth hum of road drawn up through her tires, like eager lips on smooth virgin flesh. 3.6 miles to ecstasy. A surge of speed into the long sweeping right, stroking hallowed ground with my knee. Boots bite into pegs, thighs wrapping steel loins and the world holds his breath. 2.3 miles from rapture. We pitch left into the hairpin curve sunlight flashes across my tinted visor, and I lay on the throttle. That's trust, desire. 0.8 mile from euphoria. Pulling free of sheltering oaks we scream into the open, machine-rider-moment one beautiful union. My wife wrote this some months ago, and there is of course some poetic license taken with distances and such. The idea of the poem is to explain riding to someone that has never ridden before and doesn't understand why we would get out there on a bike amongst the SUV's. Well, what do you guys think? |

That pretty well sums up what I've been trying to inarticulately explain to non-riders since I started riding. Excellently written! Now, maybe you could direct us uninformed badwebbers, that may not have been keepin' up, to that website you mentioned? also - Bruce? AL |

Whoops, Bruce (Mrvvrroomm is his user ID) was kind enough to pick up several copies of the magazine and mailed them to us since we are outside of the circulation area. The website of Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly is http://www.motorbyte.com/mmm/ they published Patricia's poem. |

It's all good Bruce! Oh yeah, Patricia wanted me to apologize to the XB crowd for the steel chassis reference. Steel alliterates far better than Aluminum. |
