I have heard this line from other dealerships. They just don't want to deal with all of the aftermarket parts. My friend's XB12 seems to work fine with an open exhaust, K&N, and drilled airbox. |

Find another shop, or ask about the hold up. the direct link software is keyed 1 ecm to a key, each tune requires another key see the KV for info on direct link, and the key, Al had spent scads of time and money on this in the right hands its sure to be the fix for Buell Box Blues, If you have a severe lean condition, problems may exist in the inlet tract, seals, possible electronics issues etc. remapping will not fix existing problems normaly an ecm can compensate in closed loop operation ( on the sensor ) for air flow changes, the open loop or mapped areas are where the tuning soft ware makes a diff, your service provider must have not only the software and computer gear, but a proper dyno and exhaust gas monitor, to properly re-map a bike takes time, American Sport Bike is offering some maps now on known good ecms for exchange. "each tune requires another key " Each ECM requires another key . |

What pipe do you have? This might help to know, since there might be a map already available. |

Shot: did you check with Al? your basic tune may be off shelf, I have an Air Kit, pipe, a mod kit on an XB air box and a pipe, whos? Did you get a race kit Sans ECM? If your engine is un altered internaly (heads cams etc) and all you have done is pipe and air box mods the basic map may be in the bag, unless you are racing the bike a full out dyno tune and remap is a lot of money for likely small returns. your "excessive lean condition" does need to be investigated, you might want to do the ancient plug check ritual your self, as your dealer may have been full of "organic fertilizer" from the porch the Oldog |

..dog, thanks for the concern, but mine was not the bike with the condition...they bike they were testing the software on had the lean-deal. Mine is stock, less than 2k miles..I bought the Buell air kit and a Jardine pipe, all still in the boxes, never opened..my cash for the tuner has been refunded. I'm working with a different shop now to get hooked-up. thanks! |
